The Madness Central homepage has received a major overhaul. Since launching the site in 2008, and its unbelievable and increasing popularity, we’ve been adding sections to the old homepage to the point where it became overly cluttered and hard to follow. Hopefully the new homepage is now a little clearer and understandable for new and returning visitors...

Madness continue their incredible return to national prominence with the release of a single from their recent critically acclaimed album, 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate', now showing it's worth in a host of Best Albums Of The Year placings.
'Forever Young' has been a firm fan favourite since the album release and is a worthy addition to the canon of classic singles that remains one of British pop's most astounding back catalogues.
2009 has been the year of Madness. Whether pulling huge crowds to Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage, stopping the traffic in Regent Street or stepping up for a second set at Rock En Seine when Oasis combusted, the band have been an ever present throughout the year.
With a new greatest hits in the form of 'Total Madness' and the 30th anniversary reissue of 'One Step Beyond' which has seen critics re-assess the band and rightfully acclaim them for being 'as acutely observed as The Kinks, as saucy as Ian Dury and as raucously tuneful as The Jam' in their earliest years, a whole new generation are discovering one of the country's finest ever acts.
Meanwhile, the band's first new album for ten years has been the real revelation. 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate' scored the band yet another Top 5 album placing and saw a host of critical acclaim from the Evening Standard ('a work of great craft and charm'), Uncut ('Ambitious, tuneful, exciting, wise'), The Daily Mirror (An impassioned, tender and troubled ode') and beyond.
Little wonder that the album is now past gold certification. For those who saw the recent BBC 4 Madness takeover, the special 'silver' edition of the album that is now available will be an extra treat.
In addition to the album itself the package also contains Julien Temple's wonderful film of 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate', featuring live versions of all tracks shot at Hackney's Empire Theatre alongside interludes with Suggs and Chas Smash returning the Victorian London of Norton Folgate itself to introduce the sights, smells and sounds that underpin the record.

Madness Central Updates: In Print For those of you who follow the In Print section at Madness Central, the past fortnight has seen a few interesting additions. There's a particularly revealing interview with Carl and Suggs from the July 1981 edition of Sounds and also from that year there's an in-depth review of 'Shut Up' and '7' by Gavin Martin in the NME.
1982 sees the results of a competition that Patches held for two lucky female fans to meet the band backstage at a gig in Glasgow and there are gig reviews and record reviews by Lee Thompson in the 1983 section.
The more recent sections have a 60-second interview with Suggs in 2003 and several of the published articles from last year including The Big Issue and The Word are now up on the site.
All articles are complete with their corresponding photos.
Don't forget if you have any articles or press that aren't listed and you would like to contribute to the site then please forward the complete scans to Looby at: mrs_sm...@hotmail.com
4. The
Liberty of Norton Folgate at Number 8 The latest Word magazine features the results of The Word Readers' Festive Fifty, a website poll to find the best songs of 2009. It's really no surprise Madness made it into the top 10, but what was surprising the song was not one of the four singles off the album.

Hubbub Deliveries, set up by Marisa Leaf, allows residents to select food online from gourmet grocers across the borough and drops it off in one package at their door.
The 31-year-old gave up human rights law to focus on the scheme to help small businesses take on big supermarkets.
Hubbub Deliveries, based in Islington, targets the same customers as London's largest online grocer, Ocado. The website promotes local shopping and cuts delivery van pollution by limiting customers to using stores near their postcode.
It was launched last month with eight shops taking part, including food writer Nigel Slater's favourite butchers' and cheese shop in Highbury Barn. More are joining all the time.
A test-run last year involved La Fromagerie in Highbury Park and butcher Frank Godfrey, which counts historian David Starkey, Big Brother presenter Dermot O' Leary and Suggs from Madness among its regulars. Chris Godfrey, one of three brothers running the business, was the butcher on Gordon Ramsay's F-word TV show. He said: "Our customers seem to like being able to buy from us through the site."
