Please share your ideas about how we can include our community in the
Madison-Avanti Garden! Below you will find a suggestion that I just
love from from garden committee member, Beth. Add your thoughts to
the discussion!

"I was thinking as we get to growing time about a way to include the
community in some small way. It might be nice to make a little flier
announcing the garden and saying we're looking for perennials (herbs,
flowers, etc.) and some of the fruits maybe... Strawberries, blueberry
bushes, etc. I don't know how you feel about that but it might be
nice to have a "donation day" when people could stop by, donate, and
then kiddos could plant with adult help. It's a way to spread the
word and get more neighborhood ownership. We could pass the flier out
to homes we know around here with big gardens. We'd have to list
everything specifically so we didn't get anything too crazy, probably,
but it would certainly help the garden grow."

I think the specific donation day is great idea, fruit trees and
bushes would be nice.

There used to be a plant swap at the old neighborhood garden, perhaps
this could be the new location working in tandem with donation day?

These are great ideas.
I agree that a wish list and a donation day would be a good idea for
getting started with donated plants. Planting would be a fun family
activity for Madison Kids after school or on a Saturday.
