Community Garden Tours 2025

Hello Madison area gardeners and garden organizers,  

At our community garden summit this March, we talked about getting people out to different community gardens than their own, to learn about how we do things at each of our gardens.  We now have a schedule of tours for the summer, starting this Sunday with a tour at Badger Rock on the southside of Madison and Westport Farm north of Madison!  The schedule of the tours, plus information about what will be at each garden beyond the basic tour, is attached, share with your friends and fellow gardeners!  

If you're not on the schedule but want to do a tour or other activity open to the Dane county garden community, feel free to schedule it and share with this listserv!

 Moorland community garden has asked me to tell you all that they've rescheduled their bumblebee scavenger hunt and tour due to the weather.  Stay tuned for a message from Carol about a new date! 

Also, the Westport Farm workshop on soil health that was cancelled due to heat has been rescheduled for June 26, 4 - 7 PM

Hello Gardeners

Rain, Rain, Go Away.  Twice now we have cancelled the Bumblebee Scavenger Hunt event at Moorland Community Garden.  Tonight is the night!  We have Elizabeth Braatz speaking from the Bumblebee Brigade, then, we all will scavenge the garden to find bumble bees, their habitat, food, and hazards.  Bring a lawn chair & mosquito repellant for the informative discussion and hunt.

Thursday           July 31, 2025    Beginning at 6 pm to when bumble bees go to bed

The Wisconsin Bumble Bee Brigade is coordinated by the WI DNR.

Street parking along Moorland Road.  No bathrooms - Closest bathroom is Speedway Gas Station.
