Registration is OPEN for the 2025 Community Gardens Summit! Se puede ver el mensaje en español abajo. The Summit will be March 8th (sorry, different time than originally advertised), with a suggested donation of $30.  The Gardens Summit is an annual gathering of gardeners organized by the Gardens Network, a partnership of Rooted, UW-Madison Extension Dane County and the City of Madison. The 2025 Dane County Community Garden Summit will be virtually and at the Badger Rock Neighborhood Center on Saturday March 8th from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, hosted by Rooted WI and UW-Madison Extension Dane County. Snacks and lunch will be provided with the cost of registration. We welcome gardeners and garden organizers from Dane County and beyond to come learn, teach, and share in the community gardening community. Due to limited parking space, please try to carpool or take public transit where possible. This year’s summit will focus on organizational topics while introducing and collaboratively planning 2025 in-garden education. This event is organized by Rooted and UW Extension Madison Dane County. Hope to see you there!

La Ponencia de Huertos Comunitarios será el 8 de marzo, con un costo sugerido de $30.  Es una reunión anual de jardineros, organizado por el Gardens Network (red de huertos en español), una asociación de Rooted, UW-Madison Extension Dane County, y la Ciudad de Madison. La Cumbre de Huertos Comunitarios del Condado de Dane 2025 se llevará a cabo en el Centro Vecindario de Badger Rock y virtualment y el sábado 8 de marzo de 8:30 a.m. a 2:30 p.m., organizada por Rooted WI y UW-Madison Extension Dane County. Los refrigerios y el almuerzo se proporcionarán con el costo de la inscripción. Invitamos a jardineros y organizadores de huertos comunitarios del condado de Dane para que vengan a aprender, enseñar y compartir en la comunidad de los huertos comunitarios. I wanted to remind you all again to register for our community garden summit! Register ASAP so we can make sure we can get the right amount of food for lunch.  We've also added a session about native bees!   

In other education news:  

• Another reminder to check out UW extension's Green Thumb series, on zoom, ongoing right now!  This Thursday's session is on composting, though if you sign up for all the classes, the ones that have already occurred can still be viewed online for about a month.  
• Over at Rooted,  we're in the midst of our black History month virtual workshops -  Join Rooted and our community guests for cooking demonstrations, interviews, food, gardens, art, culture, and more. Tune in live on the Badger Rock Neighborhood Center Facebook page, or anytime on our Rooted YouTube channel.
• Reach Dane is hosting a Know Your Rights training & meal this Friday, Feb. 14, poster attached, registration here. The event is free. I previously sent out information about this as at the Boys and Girls Club, this is the same event, this is just an updated location.

¡Quería recordarles a todos nuevamente que se inscriban en nuestra cumbre de jardines comunitarios! Regístrese lo antes posible para que podamos asegurarnos de la cantidad correcta de comida para el almuerzo.  ¡También hemos añadido una sesión sobre abejas nativas!   En otras noticias educativas: 

• ¡Otro recordatorio para ver la serie Green Thumb de UW Extension, en zoom, en curso ahora mismo!  La sesión de este jueves es sobre compostaje, aunque si te apuntas a todas las clases, las que ya se han realizado se pueden ver online durante aproximadamente un mes.  
• En Rooted, estamos en medio de nuestros talleres virtuales del Mes de la Historia AfroAmericana: únase a Rooted y a los invitados de nuestra comunidad para demostraciones de cocina, entrevistas, comida, jardines, arte, cultura y más. Vea las lecturas en Facebook Live del Centro Vecindario de Badger Rock, o en cualquier momento en nuestro canal de YouTube. 
• Reach Dane está organizando una taller de capacitación y comida de Conozca sus Derechos este viernes 14 de febrero, con un póster adjunto. El evento es gratuito, inscríbense por aqui.

Hello all, 

Final reminder of our 2025 community garden summit March 8th!  If you're interested in coming, register by this Friday so that we know how much lunch (from Antojitos Quetzal) to order.  We've also added one final workshop, from 2:30 to 3:30PM, on fruit tree pruning at the Badger Rock Urban Farm.
