City outreach about new gardeners, save the date reminder for garden summit

Hello gardeners and garden organizers, 

In case you haven't seen it already, the City of Madison's economic developemCity of Madison's Economic Development Division has a Request for Expressions of Interest, due next Monday Dec 22nd, looking for ideas from groups and individuals for how to use land owned by the City of Madison for food production.  I encourage anyone with ideas to respond to the survey, which asks about what your goals are for growing food on city-owned land, and what you would need to make that happen.  

We hope this will be part of a larger conversation about community gardening, both about new spaces, but also about how to involve new people, and how we all can share our skills, ideas, resources to make our community spaces more bountiful and accessible for everyone.  Beyond the specific survey, I think that this will be a conversation we should try and continue.  Specifically, new gardens and new gardeners will be topics of discussion at our 2026 community garden summit, Feb 21st, 8:30 to 4 PM. Look for registration information for the summit in the new year!
