Since we're talking about doing the Cache Co Fair, I wondered about
the Box Elder Co Fair. If you've ever been there, you know that it
gets waaaay more traffic than the Cache Co Fair. It's during the last
week of August. They may not have any booths left, maybe I will find
someone to email about it.....

Thanks, Taralee, I look forward to hearing back about this one. Bonnie

So I contacted the guy over the Box Elder County Fair commercial
booths. They have 6 left available. They are outdoor on the
asphalt. There is electricity available, but we would have to have a
canopy of some sort for shade. The booths are $175 for 3 1/2 days.
Let me know what you all think, and if anyone has one of those
canopies that can be set up using weights of some sort (we can't put
stakes into the asphalt).

Thanks,

Taralee

I have a canopy.  It can be secured using the ropes attached to it at each corner and a rock which can be attached to each rope.  The tethered rock will then sit on a lip at the bottom of each of the 4 canopy poles.  When was the date for this, I forgot?  Suzie

I'd definitely be interested in this, depending on the dates. I
wonder how many of us we could get under a canopy?

4 or 5 depending on how you set up.  Bags are easy to display as they can be hung from the rafters of the canopy.  Jewelry has to be set on a table.  Everybody would have to bring an abbreviated inventory.  Art can take more space when displayed traditionally.  Clothing can be hung as well but takes more space.  It wouldn't be good to have too many (maybe more than one) of one type of art/craft.  My canopy is square 10x10.

I guess I forgot to put the dates in, sorry. It's August 26th -
29th. The guy I talked to said 3 1/2 days, so Wednesday must be a
half day. That's the day of the parade, so things will probably get
going that evening. Their website is http://boxeldercountyfair.org/
if you want to get more information about it.

So, I just got the application and information for the BE Co fair.
Does anyone have business license? How does that work, if you have a
business license for the county in which you live, does that work for
there as well? Maybe I should know, but I don't. I'm wondering about
the Cache Co fair as well. My husband has done it in years past, but
he always had a business license with Logan or North Logan.

The cache county application doesn't say anything about a business licence. I would think that if we need one for box elder it wouldn't matter where it comes from. I had an old landlord with an art business in cache valley, but he traveled to art shows all over the country to do business. So I wouldn't think it should matter.

I have contacted the Box Elder Fair representative to see if we can get around the 2 rules that are atanding in our way:

1. The application says no sharing booths
2. Each application needs a business licence.

If the rep gives us the go ahead on these 2 points, I'll email everyone with an invite to participate. The booths are bigger in Box Elder, so if a few more people want to do it, we should be able to accomodate everyone.

I'll let you know what happens.

Blaire, I do have a business license.  About the sharing booths thing... maybe you could use the fact that we are a collective group of crafters/artisans and that we would like to display our work as the Made for Cache group?  Let me know if you need my business license info.

We're ok for sharing the booth. I heard back from the fair rep and he said the only reason we need a business licence is so the tax commission gets paid(and they'll have agents at the fair). So if it's ok with you Jen, lets use your tax id # to satisfy them and we'll make sure you get the sales tax to pay them :)

If you could get the info emailed to madefo...@gmail.com, I'll get the application taken care of tomorrow and get us set up.

When I got my business license (to work from home) the guy in the
office told me "they" pretty much only care about if it's at your
house, if this is a fair/event/booth thing, and if clients will be
parking on the city's streets for your business. So basically getting
mine wasn't a big deal, but if having one for a booth at a fair is
completely different, maybe we should consider getting a Made for
Cache one in the future.

Or maybe no one really looks into those things. I dunno. I mean, when
I did my taxes, they didn't even really care that I had one.
