We should probably start making plans for the Cache Co Fair booth.
Most of them really aren't that big. Some have side walls, some only
have a back wall, so you have to rig something to separate you from
the next person. Blaire, what is the booth #? I'd love to stop by
and have a look.

I plan on mostly just selling dishcloths, potscrubbers, and some aggie
hats. None of which should take up much space. I can probably put
the dishcloths and potscrubbers in some small baskets all together.
The hats, I'm not sure about yet. Those of you with jewelry,
clothing, bags, all of the one of a kind stuff will probably have to
be creative to get it all displayed. I have some half body forms with
hooks on them if anyone would like to use one, I don't think anyone is
selling women's clothing here, but you could put an outfit on one that
shows off a great necklace and a super cute bag to go with it. I have
1 white one and 8 black ones, if anyone is interested.

Also, we have a bubble machine that works well to attract people.
Especially if our booth is on one of the dead end paths. Kids love
it. It keeps kids occupied while the parents look around. The only
thing about it is that everyone always asks if we have them for sale,
which we wouldn't. We could get some smaller bottles of bubbles to
have for sale when they ask. Maybe we could put a sticker on them
that has the made for cache info on it or something?

Water is good too. Lots of booths generally have water for people to
drink, but people always appreciate it. That takes a bit more room,
so maybe not. I'm just wondering what you all think. When my husband
did the fair, he just had one of those large containers that sits on a
table with a spout on the bottom and small paper cups or cones.

So are we going to have a made for cache banner or sign made? We
should all pitch in for the cost on that too.

Thanks all...

I actually am working on launching my new line of sewing patterns based on the bags that I already sell, so if space is an issue I may consider just selling sewing patterns instead of the bags.  It would hardly take up any room, I would literally need just a square foot of table space.

About the sign, I know that Kinkos prints banners and posters, which wouldn't be too expensive if everyone contributed a couple bucks.  They also have those signs that you can stick into the ground-- sort of like election campaign signs.  Those are super reasonably priced, I think they are less than $40.  Maybe our resident graphic design expert Hilary could give us ideas to make the sign look good?

Okay friends, I need help to decide what to put in our booth. I make
so many different things. I do have a table top display for my
greeting cards. It shouldn't take up too much space. Do you think I
would have room for my journals? Any thoughts on how to display them?
When I do the Gardener's Market I usually put a few on small easels
and lay the rest out. But of course, not as much room. Any thoughts
would be greatly appreciated. I also have jewelry, but if you think we
have enough in our booth already I don't have to put that out.
Although I do have some doggy jewelry that would take much space at
all.
I would be happy to contribute toward a banner.
Thanks!

Oops! I meant the doggy jewelry "wouldn't" take up much room at all. Sorry

I'm pretty sure I'll be gone the fair weekend, and I'm not really
prepared for it anyway, but I'd love to design our sign/banner. What I
like is the idea of a big wide banner that we can reuse with other
booths. They do seem to be pretty expensive, but it just depends
exactly what we want. Another option would be a big rigid sign we
could place on a stand. What do you all think would be better?

Here's Kinko's site: http://www.fedex.com/us/office/marketing/signsbanners/banners/index.html

There's also Sign Pro here, who I don't know much about, and it
doesn't look like they have any details about pricing. http://www.signpro.biz

Once we decide on a size, place, and price, I can whip out a design
and get it printed.

OH! Also, want me to design some little cards for Made For Cache? That
way if people want to join they can take one. It will probably cost
$20-$30 depending on how many you all think we need.

--------------

Bonnie, for your journal display, I bet you could use office file
organizers, that just sit on a desk, and arrange the journals
however . I have a cute little metal one if you want me to bring it
by. Or maybe grab a couple book ends and just have them standing up.
Unless you don't want people pulling them out and putting them back
over and over.

--------------

Also, I recently went to an event where there was a booth with about 3
vendors. They had one main table that fit 2 of the vendors (but was a
little confusing) and the 3rd vendor had a table that stuck out
perpendicular to the other one. I thought that looked nice. But they
were also at the end of their row so it wasn't in the way. Just an
idea if it's allowed.

To go along with Tara's ideas, another attraction (or something to
make people stick around for a while) would be to have a giveaway
there at the booth. We could display the gift basket with all our
stuff, and then people could fill out little entry cards to win.

How much jewelry do we have?  It's probably ok to have what any of us have, but not to be redundant in the type.  I have several types and I can bring some that is different from everyone elses.  Doggy jewelry is fun as well.  Suzie

I am sorry, but my age is showing.  I cannot keep track of all these separate conversations very well.  Hope people can keep me on track!

we can figure this out when we meet on Tuesday, I think it'll be easier in person, there are a lot of messages to keep track of :)

As far as the sign goes, I like the idea of something that we can tie to the canopy -- something that is canvasy and waterproof and has grommets on the corners.  Rigid signs look nice, but it might take more space if we need an easel to display it.  Depending on its weight, it might catch the wind outside and blow over, too.  Hilary, I do like the idea of Made for Cache cards, and I especially like the idea of a giveaway.  It would definitely draw people in to our space.

I was thinking something a little more. . um . . .handmade? :) I'll check into getting the logo and our group name & website screen printed on canvas or muslin - ya know something organic-y looking. Then i can sew tabs on the top which can be tied to hang it up. It'll be pretty weather proof and if it get's dirty we can put it in the washing machine. I'll call some screen printers in town and see if this will be cost effective. What do ya'll think of that?

Or, we could even applique letters or simple graphics onto a fabric banner.  It would be pretty easy, and I would be glad to work on it if I could have some helpers to cut letters out :) The screen printing sounds awesome though, and as long as it's relatively cost effective, it may just be the easier route to go.

I like that idea. Just let me know my share of the cost, whatever way we end up going.

I would like to see the organizer you mentioned. Could you bring it to
the meeting at Blaire's? Any new ideas are always welcome., Thanks! -

Hey Bonnie, I'll get that organizer to you.

For the sign, I love the handmade idea. I did end up finding a place
that will do vinyl banners pretty cheap–gotprint.com will do a nice
matte vinyl 3 ft x 8 ft banner for about $50, plus another $10 or so
for shipping. It could be a back up or extra, just in case you guys
totally mess up the fabric one...just kidding!

Just wanted to point that out as another option :)

I like all the ideas and can share the cost.  Blaire and Hilary, the design of the MFC page is impressive and I like the idea of a consortium of vendors marketing and working as the MFC group, not just as individual vendors like the other group I'm in.  Suzie
