Happy 2010! I'm expecting an exciting year for MWM (and me), with a
cacao expedition to Belize, some products appearing in a movie
("Losing Control") to debut this year, and - of course - new molecule
jewelry designs! Also, Science Tarot (http://sciencetarot.com) should
be completed this year and unveiled at a fabulous launch party!
Knowing February is just around the corner, I've been having fun
coming up with some special designs for Valentine's Day. (You may
remember from last year's email that I prefer to call February 14th
"Dopamine Day," because it is more inclusive and specific.) Because
every holiday could use a little more science. In my Valentine's Day
designs, I like to mix dopamine with a more traditional symbol of love
- a heart.
For more information about Dopamine Day and you might celebrate, see
this blog entry from last year:

1. *new* Dopamine Day designs
This year I'm offering 4 special designs:
I've paired the dopamine pendant with a charm engraved with the words
"live," "laugh," and "love." Both pendants hang from a triple black
cotton cord, for an elegant and modern look.

For a sweeter look, try this necklace with a dopamine charm, a heart
charm, and a small pearl. Very delicate and charming!

I found some wonderful heart earrings, perfect for a pair of dopamine earrings.

And, finally, I'm bringing back the dopamine keychain from last year.
All silver, it is a memorable token of one's feelings.

2. other Valentine's Day options
If the dopamine doesn't strike your fancy, may I suggest traditional
chocolate? In the form of theobromine earrings or necklace, that is.
I'm sure there are more than a few chocoholics out there who would
appreciate a Valentine of theobromine jewelry tucked into a box of
fine chocolates. (And if you do put that together - I'd love to see a
picture!)

Other very appropriate, and romantic, Valentine's Day gifts would be
the serotonin cufflinks, the resveratrol (red wine) necklace, and (my
favorite) the endorphin choker necklace.

Spread the love, spread the dopamine, spread the science! I've made
some traditional-looking Valentine designs featuring dopamine

designs, and hand out to your family, friends, classmates, workmates,
neighbors, and surprised strangers. Tell me how it goes!

5. buy AminoBet jewelry now.
I strive to offer the best quality at fair prices, and I haven't
raised my prices in five years, even though the cost of precious
metals has increased dramatically. Unfortunately, I find that I need
to raise the price of my custom amino acid jewelry. I'll be doing this
sometime after February 15th. S, if you are thinking about ordering an
amino acid piece, now (or soon) might be a good time.
6. come see me at ACS in San Francisco, March 21-25
I'll have a table in the local area at the American Chemical Society
(ACS) meeting in March. Unfortunately, due to their rules I won't be
able to sell there, but I will have items on display. Come see my
designs, try on my jewelry, and tell me about your favorite molecules.
I will be selling stuff at the Maker Faire in San Mateo in May, but
that's a bit far off...
7. February 20-27, I'll be making chocolate in Belize (and not sending orders)!
I've been a bit obsessed with cacao recently, so I took the
opportunity to travel to Belize to learn how of make chocolate from
the bean. Given my love of microbes, I'm especially fascinated by the
fermentation process. I'll be sure to report on my experience on my
blog upon my return. But - I won't be able to fill orders during that
week.
