Hello Friends and Tourism Partners!

Below you will find an announcement for a meeting that will be held tomorrow evening (Wednesday, Jan. 23rd) at the GC Fairgrounds Building.  The public is encouraged to attend, so I am extending the invitation to you.

If you can attend, please do!!!

Unfortunately, I am not able to attend because of other commitments.
If you cannot attend, this is what you need to do.

The IU group is looking for project ideas of all types, sizes.

And, not just for tourism, but to address any and all needs of GC, its residents; whether housing, development, services, utilities, economic development, education, or activities/programs to address specific problems, problems areas, or under-served or public-in-need.  Think big and outside the box...have you seen it done somewhere else...maybe it would work here?

If you have a Project Idea...a specific form must be completed and submitted to IU or to the County Project Coordinators, Cheryl Hamilton or Brianne Jerrels.  The forms are in a digital format, so contact them directly for those forms and submit them directly to them.

Please don't send anything to me.  I will be submitting my own Project Ideas based on past tourism meeting discussions and work, as well as other discussions with people from around the county over the years, plus a few more of my own.

This IU Program is a great opportunity to Tap into the Free Energy and Knowledge of College Students from our neighboring IU Campus.

Please consider attending or submitting your ideas.

Thanks.

Dave Benefiel

The Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement is delighted to announce that it will be partnering with Greene County on the center’s Sustaining Hoosier Communities (SHC) initiative in 2019-20. A news release will announce this soon, but we wanted to share this news with you directly today. We are reaching out to you to extend an invitation to an upcoming planning session on Wednesday, January 23 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds in the Green Crop Services room. Please RSVP using this survey.

The IU Center for Rural Engagement improves the lives of Hoosiers through collaborative initiatives that discover and deploy scalable and flexible solutions to common challenges facing rural communities. Working in full-spectrum community innovation through research, community-engaged teaching, and student service, the center builds vision, harnesses assets, and cultivates sustainable leadership structures within the communities with which it engages to ensure long-term success.

Through the SHC program, the Center for Rural Engagement connects faculty and students at IU Bloomington with rural Indiana to partner and participate in the formation, leadership and development of projects that address health and wellness, community resilience and quality of place. The center matches faculty, students and university resources to create a team that works together to achieve the community’s vision.

The community meeting on January 23 is an initial step towards planning for the 2019-20 year, and it is an opportunity to hear from community leaders and residents about hopes and goals for Greene County. If you are unable to attend and would like to share a project idea, please contact Cheryl Hamilton at the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce at cham...@lintonchamber.org. We look forward to this fruitful collaboration.

Sincerely,

Jane Rogan
