The Indiana University Center for Rural Engagement is delighted to announce that it will be partnering with Greene County on the center’s Sustaining Hoosier Communities (SHC) initiative in 2019-20. A news release will announce this soon, but we wanted to share this news with you directly today. We are reaching out to you to extend an invitation to an upcoming planning session on Wednesday, January 23 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds in the Green Crop Services room. Please RSVP using this survey.
The IU Center for Rural Engagement improves the lives of Hoosiers through collaborative initiatives that discover and deploy scalable and flexible solutions to common challenges facing rural communities. Working in full-spectrum community innovation through research, community-engaged teaching, and student service, the center builds vision, harnesses assets, and cultivates sustainable leadership structures within the communities with which it engages to ensure long-term success.
Through the SHC program, the Center for Rural Engagement connects faculty and students at IU Bloomington with rural Indiana to partner and participate in the formation, leadership and development of projects that address health and wellness, community resilience and quality of place. The center matches faculty, students and university resources to create a team that works together to achieve the community’s vision.
The community meeting on January 23 is an initial step towards planning for the 2019-20 year, and it is an opportunity to hear from community leaders and residents about hopes and goals for Greene County. If you are unable to attend and would like to share a project idea, please contact Cheryl Hamilton at the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce at cham...@lintonchamber.org. We look forward to this fruitful collaboration.
Sincerely,
