Once upon a time in a beautiful village there lived a madman whose
craziness knew no bounds. He was so crazy that his greatest desire was
to eat his own heart. Perhaps it was his inadequacy to reason that
helped him arrive at such a horrible wish. Or not. After spending
years attaining skills that such task might require he set on a
journey in hopes of finding a power that could grant him his wish.
After wavering across many borders and bearing down innumerable
adventures he arrived at an old hut which seemed quite insidious and
yet inviting. There didn’t seem to be any other house nearby. As he
felt thirsty he walked towards the hut wondering if there might be
someone who could offer him water. As he slowly and cautiously
approached the front door it started to open towards the entree.
Inside, there was an old man. The old man called him inside with a
wave of his arm. His eyes are brilliant green, he has no hair anywhere
across the skin and with numerous wrinkles he looked older than
forever. He was smiling as if he knew something the mad man didn’t.
“Do you have some water to drink?” the madman asked.
“Oh! I certainly do.” he smiled chillingly.
The mad man didn’t like the tone and considered leaving. But then he
assured himself that a frail old man couldn’t possibly pose a threat
to a warrior such as him. The old man signaled him to follow and
walked across the room stopping at a trap door and opened it which was
leading to a darker and sinister looking space. The old man waved his
head hinting as to come after. The mad man wondered if the old man is
indeed evil and his quest would end in an unceremonious fashion after
all the hardships that he swatted away in a nonchalant manner. Then
again, his doubt was enveloped by a sign of weariness in the old man’s
eyes. He complied. It was enormously dark over there. They walked
across the room crossing over to another. The mad man wondered how the
old one was able to see through the darkness surrounding the room. He
could hardly manage to hold on and has to use his other senses to keep
up. The old man finally stopped and picked up something. Then he heard
the sound of a jar unscrewing and smelled wax. He understood it to be
liquid based upon the gurgling sounds it produced upon movement. He
took the can in his hands and started drinking. As the liquid paced
across his throat his eyes started adjusting to darkness. They darted
towards a dead man in the corner with hollow eyes and bloody cheeks
with his mouth wide open. The mad man jerked and tried to move away
from the old man. But his body started to feel paralyzed and he
couldn’t even move his fingers. The old man got hold of his body
before it fell down.
“Gotcha!!” he whispered in his ear.
As the mad man woke up, he found himself tied in a wooden chair. He
tried to move but the rope felt too tight to get away from. He looked
around the room and thought it was a small consolation to find it
slightly illuminated.
As he coughed, he heard the old man saying “How do you feel?”
“Whoa!! Please let me go!!” the mad man shrieked, “I promise, I would
not harm you.”
“The only person in this room who could ever be in danger from other
is you.” the old man snapped. His voice did no longer feel weak.
“Why are you doing this to me?” the mad man asked.
“Because you asked for this.” He replied.
“No, I certainly didn’t.”
“I’m afraid it isn’t so.”
“You lying bastard. Who the hell do you think you are?”
“Oh! I’m sure I’m God. And I have come to help you with your task.”
“Stop it! God is an all-loving father. Not some psychopathic old son
of a bitch.”
“Don’t besiege yourself with the lies spoken by those sanctimonious
imbeciles. God is not whom you wish to be. He is what I will to be.”
“And what would that be?”
“He who is going to help you fulfill your desire, of course”
“I didn’t want to be killed.”
“You wanted to eat your heart.”
“How do you know that?”
“I told you. I’m god.”
“I don’t believe it. If you are god, why did you have to do this?”
“I’m not Omni-potent as you people think. I can’t fulfill your desire
and provide comfort at the same time.”
“But you at least could have warned me.”
“The path to one’s desire is an arduous one. I’m sure people find it
befuddling at times. You have to keep your faith in god and let him
walk you through your destiny. ”
“Huh! So my destiny is to get drugged and tied to a chair by an old
man. What will you do now, tear my guts and poke holes in my brain?”
“I am afraid not. But I can’t promise it to be any more pleasant.”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“I am talking about your destiny.”
“Why is it unpleasant?”
“We have to copulate.”
“Are you out of your mind?” and he started struggling more. “Get me
out of this chair.”
“I can’t help it.”
“You are a delusional idiot. Leave me and I may let you die
peacefully.”
“I think it is little late for that. Your actions have long set into
motion the events that are about to happen.” And then he charged
towards the mad man.
“Please! NOOOoooo........”
And then they mated for endless nights and days. After what seemed
like an eternity, he opened his eyes only to see a new born child
lying on the floor with his stomach pried open. There were little guts
splattered all over the floor and the stains looked fresh. He could
not contain the horror and turned away puking all over his legs. He
felt weak; fighting numbness to move away from such repulsion. And
then he heard the footsteps of someone walking towards that room. He
saw a young man approaching him and felt a rush of hope that this
nightmare might actually end. Then the young man stretched his hand
and handed him what seemed like a bloody mass of flesh.
“Here! This is what you wanted. You may eat it.”
“You, you have changed. I can still recognize your voice. And you
still have those green eyes. What did you do to that child? And who is
he?”
“He is our son. I tore his heart out as I have promised.”
“No. I didn’t want any of this to happen. I didn’t want an innocent
child to get murdered.”
“This is the only way your wish can be fulfilled. As we mated, you
have ascended to a form higher than the one you previously held. And
our child was born with your heart and my wisdom. I have cut his heart
out to complete the cycle”
“Oh god!! What have I done? Why did this have to happen? I only wanted
to reach heights no one else has even aimed for. Why did you have to
sentence me to such fate?” he screamed at the sky sobbing.
“You are not to comprehend the choices that you make. You are here to
stumble through the halls of destiny. It is how you transcend this
obscenity to which you are chained.”
“Stop, Idiot! You are no god. You are just a mad man. You are worse
than me. I WILL KILL YOU!! KILL YOU!! KILL…...”
And those screams continued to reverberate across the room until they
turned into something else by the will of nature.
