Dear colleagues, December 13-22 we're running the physical theatre lab at Schloss Laubegg again (near Graz). In an increasingly digital world, where professional networking often happens through screens, IPTL creates something increasingly precious: the chance to find "your people" in person. | | The laboratory has two parts: intensive physical training in a small group (December 13-18) and the international performing arts conference (December 18-22). Part one focuses on the Ostrenko approach - combines Meyerhold's biomechanics with Michael Chekhov's Psychological Gesture and Stanislavsky's Physical Action. A living system that connects physical precision with emotional depth and dramatic clarity. Sergei and Gennadiy Ostrenko have been developing this for decades. Mornings are technical work, afternoons you build and compose, evenings are open for your research. 15 people maximum. | | Part two: the conference "Performing Arts Between Tradition & Contemporaneity". As international faculty arrive to share their methodologies and artistic visions, participants gain access to a concentrated survey of contemporary performance practices that would take years to encounter otherwise. | | We're looking for artists ready to question their current methods. Dancers, actors, circus artists, directors exploring physicality - mixed backgrounds make for richer exchange. | | | Applications reviewed on rolling basis. | Send your background and what you're investigating in your practice. We respond within a few days. You can stay at the castle with full board for the entire period - convenient to be on-site and immerse yourself in the work. | | | | This historic castle, with its atmospheric studios, gathering spaces, and mountain views, provides an environment that feels removed from ordinary life - a quality essential for the kind of deep artistic work that happens here. The isolation is not limiting but liberating, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves without the distractions and obligations of daily existence. Best regards, The NIPAI Team P.S. Yes it's intensive, you'll work the whole time. But December in an Austrian castle with other artists from around the world - these sessions tend to shift careers. |
