A prayer for all life
May we remember the sacredness of the mud that birthed us,
The soft womb that embraced primal cells and continues to nourish,
May we bless the soft ground with our first steps and our silent bones,
May our toil heal the toxic scars of pollution,
May Gaia hold steady our resolve,
May we cherish all life and may all life forgive us.
May we remember the sacredness of the Fire that warms us,
The sun that lights our days and reveals our tangled hearts,
May we bless the furnace that forged life on Earth with our passion,
May our hearth feed the embers of justice,
May Fire consume old ways that perpetuate harm,
May we cherish all life and may all life forgive us.
May we remember the sacredness of the Water that flows through us,
The clear blood of the planet that holds the memory of all things,
May we bless the waters in which we swim with our releasing tears,
May our wells quench, cleanse, and nourish all life,
May the surging Waters wash away our shame,
May we cherish all life and may all life forgive us.
May we remember the sacredness of the Air that inspires us,
The fragile balance of gases that permit life on Earth,
May we bless Air’s tornado, gale and cool caress with our ideas,
May our innovation filter poisons from the skies,
May the dancing breath of the planet transform our sorrow,
May we cherish all life and may all life forgive us.
We are the tree frog and the fertile forest,
We are the lizard and the burning sun,
We are the fish and the salty ocean,
We are the eagle and the open sky,
May we forget the illusion of separation,
May we protect all that sustains life with body, heart, and mind.
In oneness, let it be so.
