OOC: Okay, guys... back in business. Just join the Google Group and
I'll handle the rest. Here's the last few posts (to refresh the
memory) along with today's update!

Prestin: "Until last week, we were running a mining expedition in a
place known as Outlaw Field. Not ore, mind you… but it was a veritable
gold mine of pre-rifts artifacts. According to my research, it was
spared much of the devastation of the rifts and was used as a base of
operations by Fort Campbell survivors for some time before they were
overrun.

We had a team onsite excavating the ruins for about a month. From the
beginning, there were reports of ghosts, but I investigated the site
myself and could find no evidence to support the claims. Nevertheless,
the reports continued and we increased security as much as we could
within our profit margins. Twelve days ago, one of the workers went
missing. Another disappeared the next day, and another the next. One
week ago, we decided to abandon the site until we could further assess
the dangers. However, none of the workers or guards made it back to
Merctown. That’s why we hired you.

None of our current employees are willing to go to the site, so we
brought you in. You’ll be traveling with a psychic investigator named
Myra. Perhaps she will be more successful in finding evidence of these
ghosts that supposedly haunt the place. Your team will have three
objectives:

1) Investigate the ghost claims. See if you can
find any evidence of supernatural activity. Putting an end to it would
be very beneficial to Madcap Enterprises, but the primary objective is
information gathering.

2) Track down the missing workers and evacuate them safely.

3) Salvage as much of our investment as possible. Once you’ve found as
many survivors as possible, fill as much as you can of the remaining
space in the transport with equipment and gear from the operation.

You’ll have access to a Chinook for the mission, and we’ll do our best
to supply you with any other equipment you may need. Just ask and
we’ll see what we can do. Any questions?"

Frederick: OK. How many people total disappeared? We'll need med-kits
for all of them. We don't know what their state will be when we find
them (should we find them alive...or find them at all, btw).

Prestin responds, "There were twelve at the site, eight workers and
four guards. Three of the workers were already missing before the
decision to evacuate was made, but we'll make sure you have enough
supplies to tend to them if you should..."

"Probably won't find them, though," Prestin interrupts.

Rolling his eyes, Prestin continues, "My brother is right, but we're
staying as optimistic as possible. It would be horribly embarrassing
if we found all of our employees alive and injured, but didn't send
enough supplies because we'd already written some of them off."

Bobby shakes his head. "Just being realistic."

Fred: "Hope is the last thing we should lost now". I have no
experience with ghosts but I thing some psi-powers of mine can be of
some use. When we'll meet that Myra?"

She's waiting to meet you, actually. We briefed her on the mission
before you arrived, and she's probably already loading her gear onto
the chinook. If there are no other concerns, we'll go introduce you to
her right now.

OOC: Just a quick little post this time to make sure we're all able to
post. Matt, I saw the email that you sent, but it didn't post to the
group... I think it only came to my personal email. See if these
messages are coming to you from madca...@googlegroups.com. Try
using "reply to all" when you respond to this... hopefully it will
work this time.

Fred: Great! Let's meet her, then. We shouldn't waste time while lives are on danger.

OOC: Matt, I know you just switched phones. Reply to this just so I'll
know you're getting these.

OOC: Alright! Back in business for real this time!

Prestin leads you to the chinook, leaving Bobby behind to tend to
other business. Myra is standing not too far from the chopper,
chatting with Jacob (the mechanic who went with you to the Job Market
Cafe). She's a short, chunky woman with an upturned nose that reminds
you of a pig and long, jet black hair. Upon seeing you, she
immediately turns and begins walking your way, leaving Jacob in mid-
sentence. He looks a little perplexed by being cut off, but just
shrugs his shoulders, waves at you, and turns back to his work. He
appears to be checking the chopper's equipment.

Prestin bows deeply as Myra approaches and then introduces the two of
you. "Myra, allow me to introduce Frederick and Kendrick. And this, my
friends, is Myra... our psychic investigator."

"Yes, yes! I could tell immediately! I just have a sense about these
things, you know!" She has a wide smile, one that would probably be
charming if not for the missing teeth.

OOC: Thanks for the hook up, Josh. You couldn't have given us a hottie as the psychic investigator?
"Well, I guess there's nothing left to do but say our tearful goodbyes and promise each other a postcard.

Frederik: Also waves timidly to Josh and salutes Myra with a move of his hand. "God Day Milady. This is Frederick von Wittgenstein. Pleased tou meet you."
When Fred sees the missing tooth exclaims excited "Oh! I think I can help you with your teeth problems. Let me see (he has a 25% chance to have a tooth embalmed, Josh. How does now the rolling?)...

OOC: Use http://www.rpglibrary.org/software/securedice for the dice
rolling... just add my email address (theout...@gmail.com) or the
group address (madca...@googlegroups.com) to the "and the GM" box.
It isn't ideal... certainly not as convenient as embedding the dice
rolling into the actual messages like we could do in Google Wave...
but it'll work for now. The roll for the teeth came up 80, so you
don't have any on hand (or perhaps just none that would suit her)...

Myra laughs as she replies, "Surgery's not something we've got time
for at the moment, my friend, but I'll keep you in mind when we get
back! It would be nice to attract the eyes of hot young men again!"
She spins in a circle, doing a "seductive" little dance as she goes,
and then her smile suddenly disappears as she turns to Kendrick.
"Tearful goodbyes might be a little too appropriate an expression. I
have a feeling we will indeed shed tears by the end of all of this,
and I certainly hope they won't be shed because of any permanent
goodbyes."

Jacob hops out of the chinook and gives you two thumbs up. "Ready when
you are!" he calls out.

Fred goes in the chinook a little worried by Myra's last words. Ready
to go.
