As we saw in another recent report, just because honeybees are checking out a location does not mean they actually move in. Sometimes there will be activity for a few days to a week and then it stops.
If a colony has moved into the roof or wall, there should be a fairly steady stream of bees (often too numerous to count) coming and going from the entrance most of the day as long as temperatures are warm and it's not raining.
I'm not able to make the trip to Portage at this time, but this is the kind of confirmation I would be looking for before making the drive!
