I just talked to Jean. She recommended checking it out, and seeing what the status of the hive is. I had intended to do that in the first place, but it has been three years with this queen so I’m wondering if we might be nearing new queen territory.

She’s going to come out tomorrow afternoon, we will at least look at the hive and see what the status is. If it needs to split, it may wait until early May.

Thank you, everyone for your interest! I will keep you posted. If there’s anything interesting when we open up, I will let you know-especially if I have queen cells. Jeanne will hopefully be able to tell me what to do with those and I could share the love… ;-)

My advice - do the best possible effort to get many daughters of this queen (not one - several).
This potentially good genetics must not be wasted.
