Hi folks,

Fellow beek here in need of some beeswax for candles and a source of treatment free honey, if available. I’d like 3 or 4 pounds of wax and a couple of quarts of honey. Any leads? I can pick up in the Madison area.

Thanks,

Matt

I do not have any surplus honey, but I DO have 4 pounds of lovely, canary yellow wax for dipping candles.  Phone me at the number below for details and possible dipping advice.  Dipped candles burn the BEST!

I got lots of wax and honey if there is interest.

I treat very minimally with oxalic/lactic acid dribble only (not vapor).
Honey is harvested from non-treated bees/equipment.

If you insist on 100% certified absolutely treatment-free honey, I am afraid you will find none locally.
I used to have such honey - but I never had the bees afterwards, which made it unsustainable.

There is always some 100% treatment-free honey around. And no, I don’t lose all my bees every year for lack of treatment.  I’ve had three hives at one location for over 10 years and always have at least one, usually two, winter survivors.

I have about 3 gallons at the moment, but it’s crystallized in a 5-gallon bucket and my incubator that I use to liquify it by gently heating it went down recently.  I have some frames that I didn’t extract last fall -if not crystallized I could spin them out.  Will need to check.  If you don’t find another supply let me know.

I have a question that might seem silly. Before I get my bees, do I take one of the frames out to space them apart further?

Always push the frames tightly together.  If you leave any extra space, it often leads to the bees making a mess of things, particularly with undrawn frames.

In such a case Matt should have no problem finding plenty of local treatment-free honey. :)
