Recently a Patron of mine was having trouble getting the 4GB patch to apply. We tried literally everything I could think of and her memory would not change in the Config Log. I have had several comments and emails about this too.
Drag the .exe file from your TS Bin to your desktop and apply the 4GB patch there. Check your log file to make sure it applied. Your memory should be updated. Then you can use the shortcut you just created on your desktop to play the game.
If you have the disc version of the game, it might be necessary to move the .exe file to another folder. I have no idea why this is necessary for some computers and not others. If nothing else works, try this!
Today I saw an older post mentioning Securom and even though the Origin Ultimate collection supposedly has it removed I decided to try the Removal Tool and though it said no Securom elements were detected I ran it anyway & now my game is running smoothly.
You probably need to change your resolution in the game settings. Go to the graphics settings in-game and choose a bigger resolution. Also, make sure you used graphics rules maker so a bigger resolution is possible with your graphics card. Hope that helps!
Hi Cindy! I just wanted to stop by and say that I recently found you after researching issues with the game. I had to replace my video card and my game was NOT working properly. As a Sims 2 addict, you can imagine how horribly that impacted my game play and Sims life ? You saved my years of play. I personally cannot thank you enough for all you do in your blogs and videos. Wishing you the best and just letting you know what you do/did made a difference.

I installed the patch and it worked (I used to have the pink glitch in the neighborhood view and in-game). But I now realized the pink glitch occur on community lots ?
What can I do to fix that?
Hey Cindy, so I do not really know if my settings are now correct. After applying the 4gb patch my memory ist constantly at 4096, but my free memory is switching around after I opened and played the game. It is still pretty high and switches between 3800 and 4096, but it is not constantly at 4096 and that concerns me a little bit. I also already tried moving the .exe file to the desktop and into another folder, but it did not change anything. Before I mess more with my game I wanted to know if I actually need to or if my memory is fine that way. If you could help me with this I would be more than gratefull!
hey guys, i had recently purchsed the sims 2 CD and ive been trying to install it but everytime i try theres and error with the files being moved so it never actually completes it!!

Thanks for all your work on The Sims, thanks to you my game runs perfectly and looks great on Desktop Computer.
But I have this problem on my laptop. Wherever I install The Sims 2 Base Game, it works fine. But when I try to install expansion packs, it tells me, that the base game isnt installed even though it is. Due to this I cant even uninstall the game because it basically doesnt exist. I write this here because I thought the 4patch could help, but it just doesnt find the game. Would you know what to do?

Also, my game was lagging a bit after installing the GRM; I buy something, for example a bush by the grave, and suddenly some spots from the ground disappear for a moment!? Is it something to do with GRM, or how am I going to fix this?
Hi Kendall! The steps for applying the 4GB patch are the same for the Disc version as for the UC. The path to find your .exe is just a little different. You need to go to Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > EA Games > The Sims 2 Mansion and Garden Stuff > TSBin
I tried that too, but it also could not fix the crashes and the pink lightning glitch :/
I also contacted Jenna from the helpful thread for these issues, but she said basically, that Sims 2 is a mess for Windows 10 and that i mostly cant do anything. Thats why she uses Windows 7.
Do you know how to fix the Windows 10 Bug that i can use the exe-file in the TSBin-Folder with 4GB Memory OR how to make the graphic rules maker find the exe-file in the CSBin-Folder? I sadly cant play the game atm.
Tried lots of various things including installing DirectX 9 libraries (drivers are fully updated and the version of DirectX is 12). Still getting the same issue. Tried solutions described in your article with no apparent result.
Hmm. The only other thing I can think of is you might try moving the .exe file. This works for people with the disc version, but it might work for you too. You should definitely be able to use more than 1GB RAM.

I had to use social points to complete this before the rival won the episode, I would have been okay for time without the internet issue. Instead of starting this task I selected the skip episode option on the SimChase menu which cost 25SP
How did you use only 25 SPs total, did you use Simoleons with the mastery tasks? I was always debating between using Simoleons and SP, for this event I ended up using SPs to complete the mastery tasks because I had a lot of LPs from the cooking hobby that I was able to convert.

I updated my game tonight and it ask me to start the simchase, if I exit the game will the clock start anyway, or will I be safe to just open the game again tomorrow and click the start game then so that my simchase starts in the morning. Please help.
When I turned on my game this morning, the competitor was already at level 6 1/2. Completely unwinnable. This is my first SimChase, so I went ahead and started episode one tasks. As I went along I realized that Episode 1-6 were already out of reach (gone) and I would have to try to catch up. Guessing from your posts that I might have a glitch? What do you think?
This happened to me too. I think it was because I reached level 15 (I think) after the event already started. Basically the rival was working before you even knew the event existed. Future events will start on day 1.
