I have download the MrAI companion apk file to my device and have tried several times to install it but get a message every time saying the app did not install. Not sure what to do to try this out.

Also when I go to the Mad Robot App Inventor Alpha site everything looks the same as the MIT version. There is nothing new or different to try out. Do I need to donate money in order to see the new options and interface that are shown in the videos I have watched?

I would like to try this version out and see how well it works.

Hi Steven

I have download the MrAI companion apk file to my device and have tried several times to install it but get a message every time saying the app did not install. Not sure what to do to try this out.
Try this:
1 - In setting of your Android device go to security and make sure Unknown Sources is ticked.
2 - If you have the MIT Companion App installed you need to unistall this first then install the MrAI Companion app.

Also when I go to the Mad Robot App Inventor Alpha site everything looks the same as the MIT version. There is nothing new or different to try out.
The look and feel is the same as MIT App Inventor but there are quiet a few modified components in the Mad Robots AI. If you look at the properties for the following components you will see what I mean:
  • Player
  • Sound
  • Canvas
  • ImageSprite
  • There are a number of others modified components but can't remember which ones they are.

Do I need to donate money in order to see the new options and interface that are shown in the videos I have watched?
Donation are always appreciated as I spend most of my spare time developing AI, but no there is no obligation to make a donate as I am currently keeping the service free to use while it is in the Alpha stage. I am not far a way for releasing the next Alpha versions which has  new components and an enhanced interface over the MIT version(As seen in my videos). In the next release I've made it easier to see the component I have modified The new and modified components all start with the letters mr (e.g. mrSoundRecorder, mrAllinOne, mrSlider, mrSound, mrSphero etc.) Also you will be able to import MIT created App Inventor projects in to the Mad Robots AI

Just remember when using the Mad Robot AI it's a test version and currently you won't be able to package a final APK (This feature will be available eventally).

Hope this helps
Gareth

Are you saying that apps made in your software can't be put into the app store at this time?

Sorry for the delay in replying to this post.

I have just uploaded Mad Robots AI v0.2alpha. This has loads of cool new component and feature included. I'm in the process of making an example app but for it but it is quite easy to work out how to use. If you would like to have a go please visit my website www.themadrobot.talktalk.net and click the red button in the top right hand corner of the webpage "Start Creating Now" you will also need the Mad Robots AI companion app which you can get from google play here is the link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.mrai.appinventor.aicompanion3

Please note I haven't yet released the build server yet but that will be coming.

Have fun
