Hi,

Can anyone suggest an effective genome size for D.melanogaster (DM3)?

Thank you!

Ian

Hi Ian

I guess some where around 70-80 % of the genome size you can give as effective genome size. So it could be near to 130-140 mb.

Regards
Hersh

Dear Ian,

Whereas Hersh has a good guess concerning the effective genome size I would recommend to use the table that has published in the Peak-seq paper where they estimate a mappable genome size of 121,40 Mbs (72% total genome) for Drosophila Melanogaster.
greetings
