New to Flash 8

My son (15) is learning Flash and we are looking for tutorials that
help with the basics. Of course, this being the Web, we are looking for
free tutorials.

His first project involves making certain objects (text) fly faster
than the background image, which is also moving (albeit much slower).
It seems he can only make them fly at the same speed as the fps.

Is this a newbie thing? Or, can we do this easily?

It has nothing to do with the fps.

Go to www.flashkit.com or google "flash tutorial" you will be
rewarded with a ton of tutorials
