Loop problem Flash 8

new to Flash 8 have small movie that fades 2 jpgs in and one out.
keeps looping want it to stop at the end of the fade in of the second
jpg and then stay there , this is an intro web page which eventually
i
want to intro a button to enter the main web... set first jpg to
fade
in at start but does not appear to do so (kind of does), then sits
for
a set number of frames and then fades out, then the other jpg is set
to transition in but kind of goes too fast wondering how to slow down
give more of a transition from the fade out to the fading
(transitioning?) of the second jpg Can anyone help Thanks
