Hello,
I have administrator access to my computer and have set all setting to enable
downloading, etc. However, when I try to download Shockwave onto my computer,
I get the error "unable to authenticate installer". Does anyone know of
additional settings that I need to enable or disable in order to automcatically
authenticate the installer?

Thank you.

:| I'm having the same problem except I don't even get "unable to authenticate
installer". Nothing happens at all. I have changed the administrator
settings and turned off the pop-up blocker. I go to the website and click on
install. It takes me to the downloading page where it's supposed to be
downloading and nothing happens. I don't get a gold bar at the top of the
screen and I don't get the warning box. It also says "done" at the bottom
corner of the page so I know nothing is happening. I'm a little irritated that
even the computer "tech" that I called at my college doesn't have an anwer for
me. I have to have this to complete my computer class (to view my
assignments). I can't drop so maybe someone at this forum can help?

Please check you system clock, making sure it is close to the actual time. The time being inaccurate can result in the error "unable to authentic installer."

First, Be sure your system clock is set to the correct time / date / time zone

Then go to the following, download / run the "Flash Player Uninstaller" 1st,
then download "Flash Player" http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/

If this fails:
Resolution to "Unable to authenticate installer"

Open Microsoft® Internet Explorer®.
Choose Tools, then Internet Options.
Select the Security tab.
Choose Internet.
Click Custom Level.
Ensure that the 'Download Signed ActiveX controls' option is set to Prompt.
Ensure that the 'Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins' option is set to Prompt.
Make sure that your Internet Explorer security level is not set to High or to
a custom level that does not allow viewing of ActiveX controls.

Please also ensure that previous versions have been uninstalled prior to
install.

For other people if you can not solve the problem after following these steps,
you may want to check your hardware configuration to see if there are other
conflicts. The simply way to do that is to go to your hardware manage section,
which can be accessed from your control panel.

Thanks for the info. I also run into similar problems but I am glad that I can
now resolve it.

i've had family members continuously bug me about this and I've never been
able to fix this until now!

What an absolute find this forum thread is - thanks Adobe and all who have
sailed in here.

Hello,
I have administrator access to my computer and have set all setting to enable
downloading, etc. However, when I try to download Shockwave onto my computer,
I get the error "unable to authenticate installer". Does anyone know of
additional settings that I need to enable or disable in order to automcatically
authenticate the installer?

I had the same problem and it was easly fix by disabling the installer and try
to install it manually by finding the setup in one of those folders. I hope
this helps you to get the thing rolling if not feel free to post here.

Thanks, :cool;
