This is extremely frustration. I tried undoing and restoring any system
changes that "System Mechanic" did, and it didn't help. I'm horrified by the
complete lack of any useful support from Macromedia or Microsoft. I haven't
been able to find any useful solutions or even webpages that remotely
acknowledge my problem. I'm also frustrated by the lack of an uninstall
feature from Macromedia. I would like to be able to uninstall and reinstall
flash. But everytime i try that, it merely activates or deactivates it. I
can't seem to get flash to uninstall and revert all of the system modifications
it made. As a result each time i reinstall Flash, it installs it in the exact
defunct state that i'd uninstalled it in, rather then resetting itself.
Why does crap like this happen? Why is it that i have to spend over a day to
figure this out?
The utter lack of Q&A for Macromedia and Microsoft products is dispicable.
Problems like this shouldn't happen, and if they do there should be a means of
correcting it. Right now i'm hopelessly powerless to do anything other then
reinstall my OS in hopes that that will finally fix the problem.
Does anyone else have any less draconian solutions to this? I just want to
hear a bloody webcast!
-Ziggy
I can't hear any audio on flash websites. Everything used to work fine until
a while ago, I'm not sure exactly when it started as I have only NOW really
gotten interested in trying to get it fixed.
I've searched like crazy for weeks on a solution and so far I haven't found
anything that helps. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my browsers, flash and
shockwave. I still don't know what the problem is.
I really would like some help with this, macromedia.. if your out there...
please help?
Please, macromedia, what's the solution to this -- apparently -- common
problem.
Any help is reeeeally appreciated
Same problem here.
It's driving me nuts!
(example: it's 01:45 AM now)
Sometimes I get the sound back when I uninstall or re-install QuickTime or
RealPlayer or update Flash, but it never lasts!
Anyone, please be brillant!
And sound returned in both MIDI files and Flash player. Funny thing is that i
didnt have this problem in ANY other software but Flash/Shockwave and MIDI
music playback!
exactly the same here, sounds in flash doesn't play, midis are quiet, msn
messenger notices wont play sounds, etc.
i checked the control panel, playing of midi files gets reset (to null) each
time i quit it settings, it doesn't get saved.
Does anyone know how to solve it?
Has anyone had this happen? How can I get Norton to work on Win98 with Flash?
I have the same version of NAV on my Win2k box and everything works just fine.
Thanks!
Some software I instaled did the sound on Macromedia doesn't work anymore, so
I restored the system to a previous date.
If you don't know how to do this, here is a hint: start - run - type :
%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
and put the earlier date you can. The sound will certainly come back. Hope
good luck to all of you. Bye!
Start - Run - type: %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
Restore it to the earlier date you can. Good luck
I'd like to find a convenient solution. It's a pain to have to use one or the
other but at least this seems to work for the time being.
I've uninstalled the drivers for the sound card and reinstalled them... then I
clicked over a few tabs under sounds and used the drop down menus to select all
windows related noises to my audio card (Instead of my modem or other crap).
All of my sound came right back....:)
Description: Firefox 1.5 (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; es-AR; rv:1.8)
Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5) with Flash Player plugin (v.7)
OS: Linux Slackware dist.
GUI: KDE 3.4
Any idea?? please, helpp!! :)
it would just not play. like the song title, and everything would show up, but
the play button doesn't work.
1) i already got macromedia stuff installed before this even happened.
2) nothing is wrong with my soundcard, all my mp3's thats saved on my computer
is listenable.
3) nothing is wrong with my IE, mozilla's settings. because i reset it all.
4) the only problem is buffering files. ex. soundclick, myspace, and etc.
5) tried to reinstall, update windows, scan virus, and spyware.
i cannot do "system restore" because i have this problem for to long.
Is there an solution yet for the "no sound in flash" for windows xp/ explorer
& mozilla with audio live 24-bit? I really need this to work.
Regards,
Jack.
Exactly the same, plus if I try to enable MIDI device in control panel it
always reset to "no device" ( blank field)...My opinion is that Spyware Doctor
cleansed some registry data which affects buffered playback.
i first read you had to uninstall GetRight. Did that, but that wasn't the
solution.
So i read further, about the 4 speaker settings. Start --> Control Panel -->
Sounds and Audio Devices --> Speaker Settings --> Advanced. I set the option to
Stereo Headphones. MP3 was still working, but still no flash sound. Then, I
came up with something brilliantly (which I hadnt thought of earlier), maybe my
audio cable is in the wrong soundcard socket. So I put it in the other socket
--> MP3 still worked, and my Flash sound is back.
So maybe that is it, the Flash sound is being directed to the wrong outgoing
socket on your soundcard....
Hope this works for you...
I recently installed SP2 and since then sound in flash hasn't worked.
Unfortunately I put on so many security updates and the like that I can no
longer restore to a point before SP2. Uninstalling SP2 doesn't fix the problem
and none the of the suggestions here fix the problem.
Someone help!
It was Registry problem.... caused by clean-up with Spayware Doctor.
Nothing to do with hardware.
So if Flash sound AND System sounds don't work here is the solution....
Get K-Lite Codec Pack 2.69 Standard
h**p://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
Install Package and then go to
**/K-Lite Codec Pack/Configuration/ and Run "Codec Tweak Tool"
tick "Fixes / [ Registry ] Fix Non-working system sound "
Run tool...
AND ..... system sounds are back and Flash sound is back......
I wuld read over what K-Lite actually is, before installing it. As it does
appear to re-install all your codecs. But I had enough of no flash audio, so
just did it.
There was a post here previously suggesting this, thanks who ever originally
posted! But it appears the post was deleted.
If you search in google for K-Lite, you should find it.
For the record, I'm using Windows XP Pro, and have onboard sound with the
Realtek AC97 driver. The problem seemed to have started after I accidentally
unplugged the sound wire from my computer. After I plugged it back in, these
desktop applications could play sound: Windows Media Player, VLC Media Player,
Google Media Player (downloaded).
No system sounds worked, embedded flash didn't work in IE nor in Firefox, and
MSN sound alerts didn't work.
The Midi device in sound properties was blank and and "Use default devices"
was checked, and when I would make a change to either of those options, my
choice was not saved upon re-opening sound properties. Now it is correctly set
to Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth and "Use default devices" is unchecked.
Also in the sound properties window, under the Sound tab, I could not play any
of the system sounds (by clicking the play button), however I could play the
system sounds as wav files by using Windows Media Player.
Now all is fixed, thanks to K-Lite. I ran the program fixcodecs.exe which was
under the Tools directory within the K-Lite install directory.
My problem was no flash sound AND system sound. I followed cviko_m's
instructions and my flash sound is back. This is a very easy and painless
way-- installation and fixing takes literally less than 5 minutes.
K-Lite is a freeware and you can download it at http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/

Just installed: http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft.php?d=294&s=95 and
ran the fix as suggested in a previuos post and VOILA! Everything's back to
normal!
Just thought I would post to confirm the above mentioned fix for this certain
situation. Cheers!
Hope that helps as I have been days trying to solve this one. Thanks also for
the tip above as that solved a problem I had again after I had done one
re-format of the hard drive.
Things I have tried (but didn't help):
- Un/re-installed all flash players
- Un/re-installed Flash MX
- Un/re-installed my audio drivers
- Un/re-installed my web browsers
- The 'GetRight' solution posted afore, also proved fruitless (specially as I
don't have GetRight instaled, but do have this problem)
I do have audio for MP3's, other applications and games etc. It's purely with
flash that I get absolutley no audio.
When I play a flash movie with audio, the audio doesn't register at all on my
spectrum analyzer... as if there was no audio signal comming from flash.
System Specs:
Windows XP Pro, SP1
1 gig of RAM
Nvidia Nforce audio
Flash MX, flashplayer 8
I really urge Macromedia to look into this, as currently I cannot use any
flash aplication that requires sound.
A lot of people seem to be having a similar issue with absolutely no solution
on the horizon.
Help needed urgently!
Read my message before yours ;)
I must add that this website is appauling to use and I hope Adobe don't ruin
everything Macromedia has done for web users.
One very disappointed user.
Macromedia is of no help at all. When I call their technical phone number I
get transferred through a series of mazes when it finally tells me to go online
and look for the solution, then it hangs up on me!
Extreme frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!:disgust;
I don't have getright, i've reinstalled flash a hundred times, i tried the
k-lite thing, i've tried crying. nothing.

I just wanted to post and say thanks for this advice. I've been without sound
in Flash for a long, long time. This fixed my problem!
Thanks again!
I have found an incredebly low tech solution and sound is back in 5 mins.
All you have to do is make a new windows account for you I did and the
sound was back you dont have to delete the old account, but if you do there
is a option on xp to save you files in you documents
You can download Flash Player 9 here:
I opened Garage Band
and then messed around a bit and then everything worked fine.
Seems as if Garge band resets the sound prefs.
Don't know why- but try it!
Click on the Advanced tab at top, scroll down and under multimedia make sure
"play sounds in web pages" is checked (mine was, but check anyway)
Boom.... sound was back.
However, the process somehow scrambled my desktop and now I am unable to use
my dual monitor setup. Display Properties - Settings shows "Default Monitor"
and there is no facility to view alternative monitors. The Windows "Dualview"
setup seems to have been corrupted.
Any ideas out there?
http://www.codecguide.com/fix_for_flash_sound_problems.htm
What fixed it for me was just deleting the Flash Player directories:
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player
C:\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player
