SWF Video file for Web -promlems playing

Hi. Please tell me what is wrong.

I have a video file that I converted in to swf in flash cs3.

When I used Flash Publish feature it created swf and html file. When you click
on html file it plays video perfectly.
Same if I do not use publish but use standard code to embed swf in to html -
when I click file video works.

Problem I have is: when I upload these files on real server and run html file
I have no video at all.

I decided to try and use regular swf file that I created in flash and it
works. But when I use Real video converted in to swf it does not work when I
upload it.

The way I do conversion: I go to import ? video-and use first option on top.

Any idea what is wrong ?

when you create flash video it's a good idea to create an empty folder, save
your fla and your flv there and publish your content there. When you're done
you should have your flv, the swf wrapper for the flv, the swf skin for the
video player, a javascript file that looks something like this
AC_RunActiveContent.js and the html file you'll probably want to rename the
html file to index.html. You'll want to ftp the whole folder the fla file is
optional I like to upload it so I have an off site backup I cant corrupt. I've
done this stuff a lot

Thank yuo for reply. WOW! i did not know i need to have both files flv and
swf!!!

"should have your flv, the swf wrapper for the flv" - please can you email me
my steps on how to do it right ?
Do i use flv to make swf ?
IF i use Adobe publish will it create code for swf and flv at same time and
all i need to keep them in same folder ?
Or if i must use flv why do i need swf? -Why when i click swf on my pc it
plays video and file size is very small. IF swf is small why do i neeed big FLV
?
Can i get embed code on how to embed ?

if you converted a video to swf in cs3 it should have created all the files I
mentioned. The process I've always used is to start with a video if it's not a
flv it will[bullet]start a new flv
select import video
if video isn't already flv it will convert to flv if it can
then select Progressive download from a web server(the default)
Then it lets you select the skin of the video player
lastly select finish and the wizard is done
save the fla file
then select file and publish[/bullet]
all the files I mentioned should be in the folder
[bullet]AC_RunActiveContent.js javascript file
the skinOver swf that is the skin of your flv player unless you chose no skin
theNameYouChose.swf which is the swf file that plays your flv
theNameYouChose.fla
theNameYouChose.html
your.flv[/bullet]
now everything in that folder except the fla file needs to be in a folder on
your web server in order to work.
After uploading you access by
[b]http://www.yourSite.com/yourFolder/theNameYouChoose.html[/b] or better yet
rename the html file to index.html and access like this
[b]http://www.yourSite.com/yourFolder[/b]

In flash 10 how do i "start a new flv" ? When i open Flash i do get menu but it does not have "start a new flv" option.
where do i go to start a new flv ?

It don't work that way. You start a new flash file then you go to the File menu then Import then Import video. Next browse to the video. If your video isn't a flv it will attempt to convert to flv.

I do hvae gave FLV file i made in Adobe Premier. I went to Flash-create
new-inport FLV to stage. Tehm i do Publish and it created html and swf files.
Also it created jave script file. When i read html and java files code Adobe
created there is not FLV file in code at all - just swf file info.
OR how do i publish ? Do i select html and swf when publish ?

Sorry I didn't read your entire posting. Yes it looks like your publish
settings are correct. Don't expect to see mention of the flv in the html. The
html embeds the swf which is a wrapper for the flv. Did it work?
