Activate Homesite 5.5

Good Morning.

I reinstalled my computer for the first time in 2 years, and when I loaded my
HS5.5 i spent 2 hours looking for the area where I can put in my serial number.
Can any one help me? I have completely forgotten how to validate this software.

generally it asks for it when homesite is installed. at least it did for me.

If we can't find another way to enter/reenter it, perhaps we can dig into the registry to find what to set.

I installed it via the demo version. my DW8 disks were destoryed in the great
kitten night terror about 6 months ago. (my kittens have a nasty habit of
chewing on cd's)

So I assume the demo version doesn't ask for the Reg key?

not sure about the demo version asking. If you call adobe support this is something they should be able to help you with. They can get you a replacement CD or a download.

does any one know now to retrieve the serial number for the homesite 5.5 ???

In cases where your homesite install still works:
In Homesite, go to Help | About. The credits will scroll. If you click on
the splash box it will show you the serial number and name used when it was
installed.

(fwiw, those are saved in the registry under
HKey_Local_machine\Software\Macromedia\homesite\55\Registration\Serial Number)

In your case (dead drive), if you haven't saved it anywhere, and don't have a
CD with label, then contact Adobe Support and perhaps they can look it up for
you. (I suggest saving those kinds of s/w numbers somewhere next time)

Swing forward to June 2022 I am still using homesite 5.5 asking for 5 serials each time I open in win 10. all works fine
how do I get it to hold the serials in win 10

It's been a while since I installed but I'm still using it too. I think from memory, I installed using the Administrator account and it holds the keys fine.
