I hope this is the right forum since I am looking for a magnanimous person
to help me a bit for free.

I am going to be creating a kids website entirely (at least mostly) in Flash
and I have a few 'big' design questions but I also want to know if anyone
out there might be willing to let me call them via phone and spend a few
minutes asking some questions. This will be my first complete site and I've
done many intro movies and a few interfaces but nothing as involved as this
will be.

I just want to be sure I don't begin with a serious design flaw right off
the bat that would cause trouble down the road.

Questions I have involve:

Scenes vs loaded movies
Absolute vs relative clip names
Cookies vs server writes to save current level
shared libraries (pros/cons)
Any things to avoid
etc.

I know how to use cookies, shared library, etc. but just would like to get
opinions from someone who might have done a site that loaded a lot of stuff
and was somewhat involved.

It'd be too much to type I think. If you can talk to me for say 30 min on
my dime, I'd love to ask a few questions. I can also browse the net but
would still like to chat. If you have done a site with cartoon graphics,
sounds, and multiple levels/pages and wouldn't mind giving your opinions,
contact me at stu...@timsimmons.com or 870 732-4711. If not, that's okay
too.

Thanks,

wow, great offer. I love working for free.

since I am in germany, it would not be a good idea to call me by
phone. I would like to help you if you will contact my by e-mail.

I haven't done a complete site in flash but did some larger projects
like an e-learning course. I may be able to answer some of your
questions.

First of all: Check your site in Netscape. The intro is playing fine,
then I got a black screen and nothing happens. In IE it works fine.
How did you place the swf file into your HTML code. From my
experience, if you use the Macromedia templates, they will work with
both browsers.

For sites on cartoon graphics have a look at:

Well, I am sure that if I posted there, Adam Burtch would say that it was
not the appropriate forum and that's actually why I posted here first. I
will prob ask him if those others are okay. Thanks!
