In an interesting move, Charles Saatchi has decided to make the venue
available for private function hire. A brief scan of the information made
available on the Saatchi gallery website would seem to indicate that it would
be ideal for prestigious, high profile events such as award ceremonies, new
product launches and seminars. If we further consider that the building itself,
and the exhibits within it, create an impressive environment, then it becomes
clear that social functions such as birthday parties and Christmas parties
would also benefit from hiring this incredible venue.
The Duke of York HQ is capable of housing 1,500 people, although organizers of
smaller events such as board meetings, training workshops and team building
events are able to hire just a single room or group of rooms. The Gallery
management is available to advise potential organizers as to the best sections
of the new Gallery that would suit their requirements.
The Gallery will be changing exhibits several times throughout the year,
meaning that returning events would have the benefit of a familiar venue, which
will have changed subtly since the last booking, making this a dynamic function
venue, that is unlikely to be the same twice. The Saatchi collection is
internationally famed as one of the greatest collections of contemporary art in
the world, allowing event organizers to expose their guests to the subtle
influences of an ever changing backdrop, featuring some of the most fascinating
pieces of art to be exhibited in the City of London.
October 9th is set to be a date in every London art lover?s diary, as the new
Saatchi Gallery opens its doors not only to exhibit art, but to supply a world
class event venue and function centre. It remains to be seen whether this
particular mix of art and commerce will sit happily beside each other, with no
conflict of interest, one can only hope that the artistic value of the new
Gallery is not diluted by this double identity.
