" It can´t be read because a serious error "
When we try to export files from freehand 9.0 to files in fh7, it can´t be
read with freehand 7.0 in another computer showing us the same message.
Let me tell you that these computers , when I installed freehand 7.0 for the
first time, after some days, began to show me the message :
" The procedure entry point wnetenumcachedpasswords could not be located in
the dynamic link library MPR.DLL "
It happens with two computers, I have five of them and with the rest it
works well. These two computer are causing the error that I expplained
beforehand.
I asked to microsoft support agent and he told me that the File MPR.DLL is a
file related with printer configuration for freehand and I have to aks to
freehand support whether they have this issue reported.
Ok. Making a breef , I would like to know both issues, First Why Freehand
9.0 can´t read freehand 7.0 files and can´t export to freehand 7.0?
Secound, Why freehand 9.0 is causing the error with MPR.DLL file in windows
Plattaform?
My Computers especification:
Dell 410 Precision
Pentium III 550 MHZ
256 MB sdram
HD 9 Gb
Video Card Nvidia Riva TNT2/ diamond viper 770d
SO, Windows nt 4.0 release 4.0 service pack 4.0
I hope you can help me with this problem, as soon as you can.
Friendly.

On our systems FH9 can easily do both. But, our FH7 is FH 7.02 ...which is
the version of FH7 you should be running. I do not have any FH7.0 files
around to try as 7.02 has been around for like 4 years now. I'm not sure if
this is the problem, or if your other system problems are causing this.

Not sure....please see below.

A few thoughts....
You are pretty out of date on your service pack...we are running Service
Pack 6a...I believe there may even be a SP7 available now.
The 2 video cards you have listed are known trouble makers. That is not to
say you can't get them working properly, but you will need to get the newest
drivers from their web sites. FH is pretty particular about video
drivers....if your drivers are not 100% up to specs then FH very well may
not run properly.
Are you running any virus software? How about ATM?
Have you tried a fresh install of FH9?
Please try some of the above and post back.

The error you are receiving could theoretically come from any of a large
number of places. There is one that is associated with several versions of
FH and Pagemaker and involves out-of-date DLLs in your system's MAPI (Mail
Application Programming Interface) system. This is not a fault in FH; it is,
instead, a fault in you OS installation. This is an instance of the "DLL
Hell" that is often refered to.
The cause that we have documented involves some versions of Corel DRAW 7
which install an out-of-date MAPI32.DLL overwritting your system's correct
one. This DLL responds to calls to Windows that FH makes to see if there is
a MAPI32 mail server configured (I presume this is the same with Pagemaker
6) and uses this information to configure the Send To function on its File
menu. MAPI32.DLL will access MPR.DLL to get some infomation that it needs.
When the out-of-date MAPI32.DLL (an old Win3.1/Win32s version as I
understand it) that CDR7 installs is present its calls to MPR.DLL are
incorrect and these trigger the error (blamed on the top level application
that initiated the messaging.)
This should not be causing FH to function incorrectly, only the Send To
function is diabled. While this could possibly cause other system problems
that could presumably lead to file corruption we haven't documented any.
There should be a Tech Note on our Web site with more details (you'll have
to search as I'm afraid I don't know the number) and there was one on
Corel's (their TS document ID# 101815) that discusses this installer error
and its resulting damage to MS Exchange. At the time we discovered this
issue the correct DLL was dated 5/7/96 or newer and the bogus DLL is dated
2/1/96. Since the time we discovered this issue (over 3 years ago) there
have probably been newer versions of this DLL and there may well be other
application installers that make similar mistakes. According to Corel, the
correct WIn95 file could be extracted from the WIN95_06.CAB file on the
Windows installation CD. I don't know the location of the similar correct
files on other Win OS versions.
