Thank you so much for the prompt and ON-TARGET response!

This begs a question: Does anyone know the current stats for Windows users bit-depth settings? What percentage of Windows users are set to 16-bit? 32-bit? 8-bit?

Cheers!

This is a common issue with systems displaying 16-bit color (thousands). And
that is because 16-bit color is just not adequate for handling alpha
channels. Change your display settings to 24 or 32-bit color (millions).

due to the emulation of Virtual PC? But that would be odd, because Virtual

Flash 5. I've displayed the .swf successfully using Flash Player 5 and Flash
Player 6 for Mac, as well as IE 5.1 for Mac. I experience the problems in
the Windows 98 environment when displaying using IE, FlashPla (v5) and
SAFlashPlayer (v6).

No, I don't know the current stats. You might try http://www.webmonkey.com to
see if they have some. A couple years ago, the figure was something like 80% had
800x600x16, but I would imagine that's changed pretty dramatically given the
development, since, of a lot of higher quality graphics cards and the price drop
in monitors.
