Hello All!

I've made a menu using a DIV layer.
When I want to show it it appears only where is no intersection with the
flash. Where is flash, the layer is under the flash animation. I want to be
this layer over the flash.
Anybody knows a solution for this problem?
Thanks!!

Sorry, Flash will always display on top of HTML. The closest you can get to
a solution is to use transparent background in Flash. but it is frought with
problems and errors, and only works in IE. You will need to take that into
acount as you redesign.

I don't know where you get your statistics. The transparent background
issue (wmode attribute) works just fine in Netscape 7, FireFox, Safari (yes,
even Macs, OSX and up) and allows you to position HTML elements over Flash
content.

Details here ...

My appoligies. Since there are SO many problems with WMODE, I havn't kept up
on the latest news. It is well documented that there are more problems than
it is worth - it produdes all kinds of script errors and affects thing
outside of Flash.. Not a good idea to rely on it for sure. My details were
a bit outdated, but he issue is stil the same. Not a good idea to use.

Apologies not necessary. :) In my own experience, wmode hasn't been so
dicey lately as it has been in the past -- but all in all, your advice is
good. The OP should weigh all recommendations (as always) and proceed with
consideration for the risks involved.

What's the mantra? Test early, test often. :)

I have this issue:
an invisible hidden layer (that can become visible when clicked on)
when it crosses over a flash object, it prevents the user from clicking
on the flash in a firefox browser?

Well how about from countless other users reported mulittudes of bugs?

Just to name a few. In these links you will see recent problems with
browsers other than IE, pop-up blocker issues that clear up when wmode is
removed, mouse over issue on the HTML and many, many, many other issues.
The reality is WMODE is buggy and pretty much everyone will advise against
using it.

So I guess that must be where I get my information. From the users, rather
than from MacroMedia. Sorry for the inconvienience. I am sure your
information is much better than all these people Mr Stiller.

use wmode opaque .. it will appear below dynamic content and doesn't have
the bugs of transparent wmode.

Cool! I had not designed anything for a LOOOOONG time the needed such
things, so I was unaware of that. Did some reading up on it. It will
render flash on the same surface as the rest of the HTML and wil be subject
to DHTML layer positioning. Very cool!

Thanks Jeckyl!

Dude, ease off the gas pedal! I thought we had a friendly banter going
there, but suddenly WHOMP! you're tossing all these statistics at me as if I
had offended your intelligence. If I have, please accept my apology.

Read through my old posts, if you like. I occasionally get edgy with
lazy questions, but in general I'm a nice guy. You'll find dozens of posts
where I admit a mistake. I don't believe I've made one here, but obviously
it's helpful to the OP to have a variety of responses. He/she can draw
his/her own conclusions. I prefaced my opinion of wmode with "In my own
experience," which, naturally, will vary for anyone who isn't me.

Meanwhile, is wmode buggy or not? I suggest "transparent" and Jeckyl
suggests "opaque"; both are legal values for the same attribute, and after
posting six URLs of how buggy the attribute is, you seem willing to use it
now after all.
