Flash Charting Components

I have a simple charting application that just needs to change a pie chart
according to an incoming data array. The Flash Charting Components looked fine.
I'm using Flash 8, but can't get them to work (they won't work in MX2004
either).

I copied the very simple sample from this site
(http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/032603-1.2.shtml). I can change the axes
labels and the title, but cannot change or hide the legend, or get a single
item to show on the chart.

This is a very good & reliable web site, and I presume these guys made the
component work before writing the article. My question is - under what
circumstances does this component work? My second one, assuming it's the usual
Macromedia story ("It doesn't always work, but we won't tell you"), is, does
anyone know a reliable component that will do dynamic chart updating reasonably
well?
