The change is difficult but you'll get used to it. The Actionscript you get
makes Flash5 worth it.

In the bottom right hand corner of your window, there are some icons for
"Panels".
The color palette is there. Also, in the top menu go to "Window: Panels: Fill"
for your gradient panel. With both open, you can make a new gradient. Use the
Add Swatch command to save them , which you'll find by clicking on the arrow in
the panels.

Also, BEWARE of another new thing, which is: if you clicked last on the
timeline, and then you press delete, it will delete frames. I lost a lot of
work that way.

In response to your question though, Macromedia did make a stupid change IMO
with the color palettes with v.5.

I'm very sorry but that's not true
there is no brightness slider in the color mixer. So defining your own
pallete has become more difficult.
Lets Say i have a color a client realy wants and i want 7 different shades
of that colorto work with in my pallette.
Right now i have to set 3 different sliders (R.G.B) to set this now if i
want to create these shades and then add them to my pallette.

Please Correct me if i'm wrong

I remember this from the Color Effects dialog box in Flash 4, when using
Tint, but not the color palette. It still exists in the Effects tab, in
Flash 5.

Ralph,

Try this:
Mix your colour as normal using RGB. Now click the arrow at the top right of
the mixer panel and select HSB. Now you have a brightness control (B).
Mixing colurs in HSB is far more intuitive than RGB anyway, which is why it
exists.

Hi Peter,

i tried that one too. the difference is that in Fl4 the color slide from
black to color and on from color to white
which gave me a lot off control over the color.
the brightness tool u are refering to only goes from black to color.

Thanx anyway

If you click on the color in the main toolbar, you get the windows dialog box
for mixing colors (at least i do). I use that, and Add swatch, when I'm done.
good luck,
Jenn
