You Should Know...
The Macromedia discussion groups on the news server
forums.macromedia.com form an open forum for Macromedia users to discuss
technical issues and share helpful techniques involving Macromedia
products. The Macromedia forums are a very good source of information
from experienced users and are also frequented by Macromedia technical
support personnel and members of the product development teams. While
Macromedia employees will participate in discussions in these groups, we
will not have time to answer every question. For more personal,
one-on-one support, please see our list of support programs.
We hope you find the discussion groups below interesting and
informative. We created the following discussion groups to provide our
customers with an open forum to discuss their own projects and progress
using our products.
General Discussion Groups
General Info - This group discusses general information regarding
Macromedia products that doesn't pertain to other groups. Topics might
include non-technical questions, press releases, and other Macromedia
news.
General International - This group discusses general information
regarding Macromedia International business worldwide. Topics might
include non-technical questions, international distribution,
international programs, and international developer relations.
General Asia Pacific - This group discusses general information
regarding Macomedia products and Asia Pacific-specific issues for our
Pacific Rim customers. Topics might include upcoming Asia Pacific
events, sales inquiries, technical questions, Macromedia programs and
support, and Asia Pacific developer relations.
General Canada - This bilingual group discusses general information
regarding Macromedia products and Canadian-specific issues for our
Canadian customers. Topics might include upcoming Canadian events, sales
inquiries, technical questions, Macromedia programs and support, and
Canadian developer relations.

General Europe - This group discusses general information regarding
Macromedia European business. Topics might include non-technical

regarding Macromedia products and Latin America -specific issues for our
Spanish and Portuguese speaking customers. Topics might include upcoming

America Latina General ? Este grupo debatirá informacion general sobre

Announcements - Open group for users to post announcements for special
events, user group meetings, and other activities which are of interest
to Macromedia customers.
Job Opportunities - Open group for users to post opportunities for
consulting and offering of services related to Macromedia products.
User Groups - Open group for users to post announcements of upcoming
Macromedia User Group events and to inquire aboutser group activities in
their local areas.
Test - Open group for users to post test posts in order to verify that
their newsgroup and mail clients are functioning properly.
Product Discussion Groups
Authorware - Discussion of technical issues and usage of the authoring
tool, Authorware.
DECK II - Forum dedicated to the discussion of the professional
multi-track digital audio workstation software for the Macintosh, DECK
II.
Director Basics - For novice users of the professional multimedia
authoring tool, Director. This group is limited to discussions of
installation, troubleshooting and general usage. Questions regarding
Lingo scripting are handled in the Director Lingo newsgroup.
Director Lingo - For intermediate and advanced users of Director to
discuss issues and questions regarding Lingo scripting functionality and
usage.
Director Export for Java - For advanced users of Director to discuss
issues and questions regarding Macromedia's upcoming Director Export
Xtra for Java. Note: This product is currently an unsupported Developer
Release.
Dreamweaver - For users of Macromedia's web design tool to discuss
Dreamweaver's features and functionality. This forum will also cover
installation and troubleshooting and general usage.
Dynamic HTML - This group discusses questions and issues regarding
Dynamic HTML. Topics include the latest in Dynamic HTML, issues with the
new browsers, DHTML stories, and suggestions.
Extreme3D - Discussion group for issues and questions regarding our 3D
modeling and rendering program Extreme3D.
Fireworks - For users of the Web design tool, Fireworks. This group
hosts discussions of installation, troubleshooting, and general usage,
as well as feedback on the features of the public beta version of
Fireworks.
Flash - Discussion group for technical issues related to creating
dynamic web content using Flash, Aftershock for Flash, and the Flash
Player Java Edition.
Flash Site Design - Discussion group for design feedback on your Flash
animations. Dedicated to the discussion of Flash design, animation
principles and practices. Other issues not specific to the Flash tools,
yet important to Flash designers can also be discussed here.
Fontographer - Discussion of issues relating to our font creation and
manipulation tool, Fontographer.
FreeHand - Group for discussing issues to the functions and usage of the
illustration tool, FreeHand.
Generator - For users of the Generator authoring extensions, the
off-line Generator application and the on-line Generator application.
This group hosts discussions of installation, troubleshooting, and
general usage, as well as feedback on Generator features.
Open SWF - This group discusses questions and issues regarding the SWF
File Format and its establishment as an open standard for vector based
graphics on the web.
Pathware - Discussion of issues relating to the usage and functionality
of the CMI software, Pathware.
Shockwave Plug-ins - Discussion of issues relating to installation and
troubleshooting of Shockwave plug-ins and ActiveX controls. This group
is not intended for discussion of Authorware, Director, or Flash usage.
Usage discussion should be conducted in the individual products'
newsgroup.
SoundEdit16 - Discussion of issues relating to the tool for multimedia
audio, SoundEdit 16.
xRes - Discussion of issues regarding the usage of our high resolution,
high speed image manipulation program, xRes.
Japanese Discussion Groups
The following groups are available in Japanese and host the discussion
of Macromedia products similar to the groups above. Our techical support
group in Tokyo is also active in the discussion taking place on these
groups.
