What tool or technique is used to make a line that tapers at each end?

Thanks

Depending on the application, this might work... I use this where possible
because it gives the smoothest result (I think!).

Create a rectangle the dimensions that you want your line to be, then fill
it with an elliptical fill. For both ends of the elliptical fill, use the
colour you want your line to be. Then change the opacity on the right side
of the fill to 0 (ie 100% transparency). To move the start of the tapering,
move the left opacity handle toward the right one...

Hi dlnw:

Use an Airbrush or Watercolor stroke on your line and then select the Path
Scrubber Subractive tool and drag the tool over the selected path to taper
the line. It may take a little practice, but that might give you what you
want.

Of course another way is to draw a line and then choose Modify > Path
Operations > Expand Stroke... and set the width and endcap values, click
OK to create a rectangle that you can edit with the pen tool, adding
points or deleting points to change your shape to look like a tapered
vector object.
