I have a png file which I have changed extensively. When I now try to
save this file as the same name everything saves fine expect at the end
of the process it tells me that the file is locked. I check the
properties on the file and it is set on archive.
Problem #2 I usually edit my files within Dreamweaver and jump directly
into fireworks to make the change and everything is automatically
updated. This time when I select the slice in Dreamweaver to be edited
it tells me the file is locked!
Go figure, I have done this process many times before and I have never
had this problem. Can someone who is Fireworks savvy give me a
solution.
Please Note: For time and to save my sanity I saved the file as a new
file and guess what it saves with no problem!!
What is going on here????
Thanks Sharon
Have you checked the site files in Dreamweaver? Look for the lock icon
in the site files listing next to the file you're having troubles with.
That would be standard behavior if the file was copied from a CD. I know
that's not what you're doing but it might be worth a look. (Right click
the file and choose "Unlock" if you see that icon)

Hi Sharon:
Sometimes a file's internal database gets corrupted. If this is happening
only to one file and if Saving the file as a new document allows you to
proceed unhindered, then that's probably what happened.
You should at some time, open the file and copy everything in that file to a
new file. Make sure you get everything on all the layers and frames. Then
save the new file and throw away the old one. This usually clears corruption
out of the database.
