Hi Shadow,

I think that it is best that you convert the SWF file you created from the
Flash application and either Publish or Export the file as an animated GIF.
That way, you can modify the animated banner's appearance and quality.

I hope this helps.

> I am having a problem here. I am builing a small website website for a
friend and indtead of using an IMAGE as a banner on the the main page I made
a small Flash animation. Unfortnately my Fireworks isn't allowing me to
import any .SWF files (animations extension just for the animation). I then
opened my flash up again and published it as a .png .html .jpg and .gif .
The PNG And the jpg are not animations, just pictures so that was gone, it
couldn't import the html, becuas eit was runnin on my harddrive and when I
opened the gif it would play the animation, choppily in my windows browser.
I went to Fireworks and imported it, it went into very low quality and when
I went to Preview in Browser it showed the site but only had the 1st fram of
the animation, so te animation was playing as a gif . can anyone help me, I
really need the animation as the banner on the main page.

If you did the Exporting/Publishing portion on Flash (to save the animation
in GIF format), it should be working fine.

Based on what I understood from your recent question, you are asking if it
is possible to upload the PNG file in a different format so that the
behaviors will function. For you to achieve that, you have the Export the
PNG file as a HTML file. This is needed so that the JavaScript files
associated to the behaviors will also be incorporated on the file.

Shadow:

If you want the animation to be a SWF, then why not insert it into an empty HTML table cell that you designate in Fireworks? Just draw a slice that's the same size as the SWF where you want the SWF to appear in Fireworks and then in the Property inspector, when the slice
is selected, change the Type pop-up to HTML. If you are in Fireworks 4, change the Type pop-up in the Object panel. in MX you can click the Edit button in the P.I. (Property inspector) or in Fireworks 4 you can enter text in the bottom part of the Object panel. Just type
"my swf goes here".

When you export the Fireworks PNG, set the Save as Type field in the Export dialog to HTML and Images. Export to a defined site folder in Dreamweaver. Place the SWF file in a folder inside the site folder and then with the Fireworks HTML file open in Dreamweaver, click
inside the table cell, delete the text and use the insert SWF object in Dreamweaver to insert the SWF into the empty table cell. You may have to adjust some of the table settings but this should work for you.
