Not asking for any divine intervention here - but would like to
take a day-time seascape JPG and turn it into a night/dusk-time
view. Is this possible using FW3?

I made a little example by opening up the JPEG in Fireworks 4 and then
adjusting the saturation (-75), lightness (-35) and then changing the hue to
a more purple/blue one. I'm sure you could do the same sort of thing in
FW3, just playing with the attributes until you get the look you want.
