Actually, it's not that easy. Arrowheads are easy, dashed lines are
easy, but getting them togehter is another story. Here's one way.
Create your dotted/dashed lines ala Linda R--
1. Use the text tool to type in a series of dashes.
2. Select Text > Convert to paths to change the text objects to vectors.
3. Modify as necessary.
To get arrowheads:
1. Draw a line.
2. Select Commands > Creative > Add Arrowheads.
3. Choose from the 17 assorted flavors and click OK.
4. To detach the arrowhead from the line choose Modify > Ungroup.
5. Delete the line. The arrowhead will stay.
6. Move the arrowhead nest to your dashed line, select it all and Modify
> Group.
A kludge, but it will work.

Hi Lizzz:
I don't know where you were searching, but if you go to:
<http://groups.google.com> and enter the keywords "macromedia.fireworks dashed line"
This is a common question here and Linda Rathgeber and other have answered it numerous times. Kleanthis Econemu has a command on his site that you can download which will make dotted lines, you can make them looked dashed as well:
<http://www.projectfireworks.com>
There's even a TechNote or two on our site that show how to do this, although there are some drawbacks to each method. Go to:
<http://www.macromedia.com/go/16213>
... and a Flash panel extension that you can get at the Dreamweaver Exchange named Dotted Line by Deng Jie. Search for it under the Fireworks extensions.
There is also a Flash Panel that you can get that has bunches of Arrowheads that you can add to strokes Kleanthis made it but I don't find it on his site. It may be available from Steven Grosvenor's site at <http://www.phireworx.com> but apparently that site is down for development. Watch for it to come back up soon.
The best dashed lines are created by drawing a line and then drawing a series of perpendicular lines that intersect the first line at 90° angles to each intersection of the two lines. Then you select the original line and choose Modify > Alter Path > Expand Stroke and set the width you want for the dashed line, then select all of the intersecting lines and choose Modify > Alter Path > Expand Stroke and set the width of the spaces between the dashes for those objects, then choose Modify > Combine > Union to convert them into t single object. Next Shift-select the original line that's been expanded and choose Modify > Combine > Punch. This gives you the absolute best dashed line, but it's no longer a line that you can manipulate as a line (but it sure does look good).
