typewriter effect too slow

Hey I tried that typewriter effect on my text, and it's typing itself WAY too
slow. I even set it to where there should be no time break between characters
and it is still moving too slow. Is there any way that i can make it faster?
I would prefer it to type at about 100-150 wpm. Thanks a lot.

But, seriously. What kind of system are you running it on?... It seems to work fine on mine.

I have a Dell Pentium 3, 128 MB of ram. I know it's above 600 MegaHz and below
1 GigaHz but I'm not exactly sure where it is between there. It is true it
does seem to lag up a bit while playing... But i also tried creating a
projector of the movie where the only thing it had to do was typewriter effect
on 1 text. It still ran slow. Does your computer really run that fast, and
can type it up to 150 wpm?

why do you need 100-150 wpm?... I'm thinking you want it to do something it's
not really designed to do. I get it going pretty fast, but I was just testing
it so I certainly didn't check to see if it typed that fast. But it was fluid.

The typing effect is supposed to show one letter come up at a time with a
slight but noticable delay between letters. It's a very specific effect. If
you're trying to create a scrolling marquee, for instance, then you may want to
try the tickertape text effect in the library instead.

Hey thanks for the tip of tickertape. I tried it, but there was still a
problem. The scrolling goes backward, and it doesn't write out the entire
sentence. How can i get better control of this to make it scroll forward and
show the entire sentence? Thanks again

Ok. What exactly are you trying to do? It's starting to sound like you'll need
to write a custom script that will meet your criteria.

Okay here is basically what i want to do. I am making an RPG in director right
now, and if you have ever seen an RPG, like final fantasy, or like Golden Sun,
or like Ninja Gaiden (on NES) or any game that has text written out to be seen
on the screen, it appears like it is scrolling out, or rather appearing letter
by letter. It moves rather quickly. I want to duplicate this very same idea
in director and I do not know how to. I have a little experience in lingo but
not a bunch and it would be VERY appreciated if you could tell me what sort of
custom lingo I would need to perform this task. Thank you again.

Check them out. Learn Lingo first before you start jumping into a project way
over your head.

Google "Imaging Lingo" this is the fastest way to display pixels on most new and old computers. It takes some learning curve though.
