Options to replace Director with

Hello friends,

Now that Director is no longer going to be updated, I am wondering what everyone is replacing it with. Switching to another Adobe product? Something else? I am trying to figure out if there are other alternatives that are similar to Director (authoring visually through an interface and/or programming). Any suggestions?

Try Adobe AIR if you have to work with SWF files. Otherwise, on a similar question, Valentin from Direct-l list had suggested http://hollywood-mal.com/

As a programmer, I found Hollywood MAL a very good alternative (in some places, even better) to Director. We could not move to it because we have developed a lot of e-learning content using Flash SWF and Hollywood MAL does not play these files.

Thank you so much for your response. I will start exploring Hollywood MAL right away. I am a professor at a state university and I can see it is a lot more affordable than Director. That is already a plus. Cheers!

LiveCode can be a good option too. Lots of similarities with Director-Lingo and HyperCard-Hypertalk. Good updates and community. Free and payed options. That was my choice after Director died. Regards.

Thank you very much! I have been looking at it and the languages looks similar to Lingo. This might be the way to go. I sincerely appreciate your answers.
