I got the standalone version of the shockwave installer from the website, but my client is reporting that it fails if the machine that it is being installed on isn't connected to the internet. Also, the licensing agreement is like stereo instructions. What is the logo that is supposed to be included on the page?

Thanks for any help,
Rob Dennett

Get the Shockwave uninstaller and uninstall Shockwave. Reboot then use the current standalone installer.

I had the same problem and this worked for me.

So, if someone already has the web version of shockwave installed on their machine, they have to uninstall shockwave in order to install the standalone version? This isn't a very practical solution. First of all, my project includes quicktime movies which don't work unless the standalone version is installed. Therefore all end users will have to uninstall and then reinstall the standalone version to make my project work.

Also, while trying to reproduce this problem, I launched the standalone installer on a pc laptop. The first thing it wanted to do was to look for the Netscape plug-in folder. Since the client had never installed Netscape Navigator on this computer, the installation failed. Why isn't there a choice for installing the IE plug-ins?

Thanks,
Rob

This problem only affects a small percent of users. It is NOT a common issue. So, to answer your question about everyone having to uninstall and reinstall... No.

As for your issue with the standalone on your laptop. Read the text above the window where you select a Netscape version. It states that the plug-in will be automatically installed for IE and if you want to add it for Netscape select a version in the list (if any). So, you have no choice but to install it for IE.

But the installer wouldn't continue until I had located the Netscape plug-in folder.

Thanks,

That愀 because qt3asset xtra isn愒 included in the ordinary standard shockwave install. If
you havn愒, look in to the "Download if needed" option in the modify>movie>xtras dialog. I
think you have a solution to your problem there.
