is it possible to find an easier way to search for a file in the end users system for both mc and pc???

hi i have looked at buddy api and it does support file search in the pc but
not in the mac is there another xtra i could use of do i need to create the
search myself using the filextra??? any help will be appreciated

Have you looked at MasterApp from updateStage? http://www.updatestage.com/
I've used it for a number of things. They have a wide variety of Xtras.
