drafts do not show up in draft console

I am the publisher for our website, several editors update pages and send to my
draft console for review and publishing. there are drafts which show up from 1
day ater, or in one instance, 2 weeks later in my draft console. Some drafts
do show up right after being sent for review, but there are some which show up
much later.
is there a way to track these "missing" drafts, or is there an option that can
be set to verify that the draft has been accepted by the console? this did not
seem to be a problem for us in the past, and we have not changed versions of
Contribute (we are still using 3.0). Are there any suggestion on an approach
to solve this?
