is coldFusion dead?

Everyone I talk to is telling me coldfusion is going the way of the dinosaur. That all the big companies are setteling on either .NET or Java. Coldfusion is going to continue to lose market share.

I am a flash developer....and I am looking to learn a backend technology. I don't want to learn three. Which one would you choose? I keep thinking java will get me the most jobs....as it seems like the most people use it. If i look at the job boards I see maybe 150 coldfusion jobs nationwide,,,and several thousand asp jobs.

Someone please tell me what they see in their crystal balls. I want to learn something that is marketable and has a furture. My guess is from what people are telling me that coldFusion does not have much of a future.

ColdFusion has certainly gone through a lot of changes but it isn't anywhere
near dead!
Don't get me wrong, I think there is a lot Macromedia needs to do to keep it
viable. A LOT.
But for enterprise level web and database development NOTHING beats CF.

As a professional web developer who handles everything from large corporate
sites to smaller hosted sites I am actually seeing a resurgence of interest
in ColdFusion. People are realizing that it's going to give them what they
need without the steep learning curve. CF will be with us for a while.

I think you definitely should think about learning Java along with CF. Java,
Flash, and CF are an excellent combo that I think will serve you well into
the future.
