Mid-March 2021 Newsletter Primary schools
Dear colleagues As you continue to plot and plan for the uncertain year ahead, you know you will also want to include some fun in the classroom. Our focus this month is a photocopiable resource pack that will delight learners while they learn. FOCUS ON POETRY AND CREATIVE WRITING This resource pack combines an approach to creative writing with the skills and tools of poetry. It introduces learners to the main figures of speech that they will later encounter in poetry study. By using these devices themselves, in their own creative writing, they will develop a good understanding of what poets themselves do with words.
Based on the CAPS requirements for English Home Language in the Intermediate Phase, this pack covers listening and speaking; reading and viewing; writing and presenting and language structure and use, in one way or another. There is also a range of assessment opportunities, with suggested grids, including teacher, peer and self assessment. To get the fun started, we are attaching a few samples pages. Enjoy using the worksheet in the classroom!
