Dear Colleagues

How do you plan to spend 14 Feb in the classroom?

Why don’t you and your learners cover a classroom wall with collages and poems of love?

Some easy poetry formats:

Valentine Haiku - a funny Valentine poem Holiday Card | | Valentines poems, Funny valentines poems, Valentines day quotes for himLimericks rhyme like nursery rhymes but usually have a distinctly silly theme. Limericks follow a rhyme scheme of a/a/b/b/a for a total of five lines. The first two lines and the last line generally contain seven to 10 syllables, while lines three and four contain five to seven.

Short Acrostic Love Poem "LOVE" | Love poems, Acrostic, Love memes

The simple structure of haiku makes it easy for children to imitate. Haiku contains only three lines, the first and third lines are five syllables long and the middle line has seven syllables. Haiku usually captures a single experience in nature.

Acrostic poems encourage children to think creatively within a structure. An acrostic poem takes as its structure the letters of a word that represents the theme of a poem. For example, a poem about hockey would contain six lines -- a line for each letter of the word "hockey" -- and each line beginning with a letter from the word "hockey," in order.

Stanley Yelnats is under a curse. A curse that began with his no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather and has since followed generations of Yelnats. Now Stanley has been unjustly sent to a boys’ detention centre, where the boys build character by spending all day, every day, digging holes.. Major themes included are the consequence of choices resulting from fate and destiny, the importance of friendship, humour, romance, the coming of age.

Boy: Tales of Childhood is an autobiographical book by British writer Roald Dahl. Throughout his young days at school and just afterwards, a number of things happened to Roald Dahl, which made such a tremendous impression he never forgot them. Boy is the remarkable story of Roald Dahl's childhood; tales of exciting and strange things - some funny, some frightening, all true.
