I have the same problem (iTunes, Amazon Prime etc.). After updating to macOS 10.14.4 I can not watch anything over hdmi because of the HDCP problem. And I can say for sure that the latest update is the reason for that. I have three partitions with MacOS installed on the same MacBook Pro and only the ones, that are on the latest version, have this issue.
Hello everyone,
I have a Samsung Qled QN93 with a Sonos arc and 2 sonos ones as a 5.1 setup connected through the HDMI earc port.
As a audio format option i use passthrough, and this is working fine with my Playstation, external tv box or other device. But when i use tv apps like Netflix or Prime Video i noticed that the audio format setting keeps changing to auto and the passthrough option is greyed out.
That's how it is supposed to work. Passthrough is only when the source is an external HDMI device, the TV will passthrough the audio from that device to your soundbar or AV receiver. When using the apps, it's sending the sound directly from your TV, it's not acting as a "middleman". I get surround sound in the Netflix app with the Auto option, passthrough is greyed out because there is no HDMI source.
Apps on the TV, even the Samsung TV app. are all in one bucket for settings and have the pass-through option greyed out, auto = no sound, pcm gives 2 channels. There is even a message in that screen saying Pass-through is only available for sources connected via HDMI, like the old days when that type of connection was required for the licensing for the sound format/content to be verified through a handshake that would not work via rca etc.
021722 bought new qn65qn90aafxza,audio thru hdmi arc-e to denon avre-400 surround. all is fine until i stream primevideo.......no sound unless i change settings over to pcm............2 channel? what good is surround,if i cant get it thru tv on this app? yes, even some of the movies in 5.1, 2 channel only..............is samsung going to correct this?? thanks, all, m.
Everything worked well for months. Suddenly, when we put Netflix on, no sound. There IS sound for a Netflix trailer, but not for an actual show. All other apps (Disney +, CW, Amazon Prime) are working fine. In another room, with another Roku, Netflix is working fine. What happened, and what needs to be done?
My son was able to fix it. I believe he went into Roku settings and then audio. And change the setting to stereo. Rather than the other one that was selected. And the hdmi setting was at auto. Restarted netflix and it was back to normal. Not sure why it started (never changed the setting to begin with) but it's worked fine since. Hope this helps!
Can you please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing? Is the issue you are experiencing only happen on the Netflix channel or does the loss of audio happen on all channels? What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to try to resolve the issue? How long has the issue been occurring?
As a first step, could you try to remove any channel you observe this issue on from the Roku home screen? Then, restart your device. Once it loads up again, add the channel back once more and try playing content again.
When trying to play netflix after plugging in the plugabel docking station I am getting error code S7363-1260-48444350 and it says display error, there appears to be a display problem. Please ensure your monitor is HDCP compliant and is not mirrored using airplay.
When utilizing HDCP based technology, all individual devices and cables inside of the chain have to support HDCP in order to function correctly. This means that even with a HDCP compliant display, or airplay, our docking station does not support HDCP and similar errors to the one you mentioned in your post, as well as performance based issues can also occur.
I also want to advise that currently, our USB 3.0 DisplayLink docking stations are not recommended or compatible when used with Mac OS X systems. We speak more to this in the following knowledgebase article:
We reached out to Chad regarding his issue, and advised him of the incompatibility of both our docking station and Mac OS based systems, as well as HDCP not being supported by DisplayLink based products.
After nearly two weeks of behaving impeccably, it has started doing it again. I checked the HDMI, both ends in tight. I checked the settings. Still set to 2160P. I don't know what it is. The HDMI cable, perhaps? It's the one that was supplied with the Sky Stream puck, so it should be okay, and is most of the time. Next time it happens, I will try unplugging the cable and plugging it back in again in case there is a bit of dust stuck in there causing an occasional failure of the handshake.
I have the same problem with one of my tvs. Netflix titles only available in HD using the stream puck, whereas an Nvidia Shield connected to the same tv and the tv's own Netflix app give access to Netflix 4k content.
All other apps using the puck (including iPlayer Beta and Sky 4K HLG) work giving 4K HDR Atmos and a 4K Blu-ray player also works without issue. I was tinkering yesterday and experimented by swapping the puck and Blu-ray player hdmi ports on the amp while the puck and Blu-ray were powered. The puck Netflix app (for the first time ever) started working in 4K and continued to do so even after returning the hdmi cables to their original ports.
I haven't dared to remove power to anything since, but coming out of standby Netflix still works. No previous efforts of powering the items in different sequences have worked. I'm struggling to understand what's going on here but think that I must have fooled the Netflix app in some way.
I took your advice, Padam, and ordered a certified HDMI 2.1 cable from Amazon. It was made by a company I have never heard of, called Ubluker, and arrived within 24 hours. Price 8.75. It's an impressive-looking bit of kit, stiffer than the Sky cable and braided. I don't know whether that would make any difference.
Anyway, to give it the best chance of a good start, I unplugged the puck at the wall, swapped the cables over and plugged it back in again, so that it would reboot. This it did, and all seems well. Let us hope that it stays that way. Thanks for the tip.
That's the same brand of HDMI cables I use with my Apple TV 4K box, Panasonic OLED TV & Denon amp. They've worked perfectly for me for months. I got rid of my Stream puck in the end (too unreliable) but hopefully yours will work better with the new cable. Good luck!
I hope I am not tempting Fate here, but I think I may have stumbled across the solution. I called up Netflix and was on the Home Screen, browsing through what was on offer. Without warning, it flickered, and whatever had previously been listed as 4K was suddenly HD. That set me thinking. Clearly, the handshake had failed, or rather something had happened to cause it to fail.
I remembered once reading a post by somebody who had been having a problem with Netflix. It wasn't the same problem as mine, but he fixed it by making sure that he logged out whenever he wanted to watch something else. It occurred to me that other apps, such as iPlayer and Prime Video log you out automatically when you cease watching. I know this because you see their log-in screens whenever you access them. Netflix doesn't do this. You have to log out manually. The command, 'Exit Netflix' is at the bottom of the vertical column of options that includes Search etc. Since then, I have logged out religiously, even if I had just popped in for a quick look, and the problem has not returned. It has been about a week now. Fingers crossed, it stays that way.
I have had no issues with my Nebula playing HD content. I also do not experience any audio lag when using HDMI connections, we have used one of my Roku devices, my nether stream box and our laptop to connect to it without issues.
the netflix app that was installed had to be updated right away, afterwards the whole unit had a firmware update and after that netflix again updated and has worked since. maybe check to see if there is a firmware update for your nebula and then try again

Netflix uses HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) technology to prevent unauthorized copying of digital audio and video content. If your projector or HDMI cable does not support HDCP, it will not be able to stream Netflix. You may encounter an error message regarding HDCP compatibility, or you might see a blank screen when you attempt to stream Netflix content.
