Good afternoon, all!

I am reaching out if anyone knows of no-cost basic computer training in Macomb County. I recall there was some but cannot recall.

Thoughts?

Thank you.

Scott -

I have heard of Per Scholas (which has an low income requirement) - it is nationwide program and has an office in the New Centre area of Detroit on Grand River (I think) check this info out as well :

Apply to Per Scholas today! Learn more about our training offered at no cost to learners, and apply to Technology and AI courses that will help launch your career in tech.
Is Per Scholas worth it?
Rigorous third-party research has repeatedly proven Per Scholas' efficacy. The most recent federally sponsored MDRC WorkAdvance study (2020) reported that Per Scholas participants earned $6300 more per year than members of a randomized control group of equally qualified individuals motivated to seek IT career training

Per Scholas requires applicants to meet specific income criteria, generally needing their household income to be below 80% of the campus-based Median Family Income (MFI), verified by documents like pay stubs or other income proof from the last three months, to ensure the program serves low-income individuals seeking tech careers, though specific thresholds vary by location and are set by HUD.
How Income is Determined:
  • Individual vs. Household Income:
You'll provide either your individual income (earned within 90 days of applying) or your combined household income for the last 12 months, depending on your situation.
  • HUD Guidelines:
The income limits are based on HUD's Median Family Income for your specific campus location.
What Counts as Income:
  • Earned Income: Wages, salaries, tips, and taxable employee pay.
  • Other Proofs: Child support, Social Security, unemployment benefits.
What Doesn't Count (Usually):
  • Savings, passive income, child support (as income, but can be used as proof), or inheritance funds are generally not included in the income calculation.
