To all my friends -

Just wanted to send along this notice for the upcoming homeless count, and to share a classic Daniel Pfaff story about the days when he would participate in the count - his primary "turf" was the railroad yards and under the overpasses on the freeways.

I recall him dressing up for the effort in his beat up / tattered clothes and boots and armed with a bag of new socks to give away to the folks he found out in the cold.

After viewing his outfit - I always knew he was out there with the firm conviction to help others - but
I always kissed him good-bye for "good luck"on his mission and warned him " . . . not to take any
socks. . ."  from fellow volunteers/workers who approached him in the camps and thought he too was one of the homeless they were out to count that day.

He loved his work, especially with the staff he worked with at the Warren office - he called them his "dream team" and always spoke highly of their dedication to helping others.

In that same spirit, I wish you all the best for all your on-going efforts to serve others and make our World just a bit better each day with your efforts.

Good afternoon!
We are recruiting volunteers for the Out-Wayne County Point-in-Time (PIT) Count on Thursday, Jan 28th, 9pm-2am. This is 1 night in the year where CoC's go out into their community and count the number of individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness. We also use this as a opportunity to give out supplies to individuals we find.

These counts allow us to advocate for homelessness support and funding and to make contact with people who are often hard to reach.

We have a Q&A session if you'd like to learn more. Register here

Feel free to forward this along!
