HUD/VASH Vouchers for Chronically Homeless Vets
Targeting Most Vulnerable Veterans
The VA will have additional
HUD/VASH vouchers available to house those Veterans in the 4-county catchment area (Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne) and are accepting applications at this time.
Priority will be given to chronically homeless households: a disabled individual or family who has experienced homelessness for at least 1 continuous year or on at least 4 separate occasions
in the last 3 years.
If any service providers identify a Veteran who is homeless, please
call the Veterans Community Resource and Referral Center (VCRRC), open 7 days per week from 8am to 8pm, at (313) 576-1580 and ask to speak with the Social Worker on duty. The VCRRC SW will
ascertain which programs the Veteran may be eligible for and can also assist with VA registration. If the VCRRC Social Worker assesses that the Veteran may be appropriate for HUD/VASH and the Veteran is interested in the program, he/she will contact the HUD/VASH
SW on call (during regular business hours) or will get contact information from the Veteran to follow up on the next business day to conduct the HUD/VASH orientation and screening over the phone. This will begin the application process for those eligible.
